Hi everyone, i am new here

I tried to invest on same coin, but i am sad with actual situation (its very sad how people are trying to scamming investors only for BTC)

This is the biggest famous forum and i am thinking about something like "Coin police on forum"  with some adept professional developer (i am not prof. developer), who will be control (for example source code for new coin, if is all ok, if is not cloned/copied etc...) coin and after control will be published.

Developer can be donated from people or some biggest investors...

Here are a lot of people who starts new coins but is not qualified, another start only for BTC, etc....

What do you think?

we have many great detectives around and every clone etc. is announced by investigators to be a clone in a very short period of time Smiley

There is no need for "Coin police".

Thanks, is here somewhere on forum special thread, where this detective results are viewed or consulted for new coins ?

Because is very hard to study every new coin thread and review this...

If this thread doesn't exist, i think it will be pretty cool to create it, with some ranking for "detective" developers

no only for investors... but for better name of coins too Wink  ... this scamming is definitely decreasing a value of all coins, i think

Well, for investigation & its results u need to have a close eye on this 'Meta' section. There is also a section for forum staffs, but u & me dont have access to that.

On a side note, if u think, policing can stop alt coin scams... u r wrong. Scams encash people's greed and no policing on this earth can stop morons from being scammed.

Indeed.

And what is so wrong in "cloning" as so many coins are clones ... and I see a lot of people that don't give a ff about it.

I will never create any coin as I think there are enough good coins on a market and atm we don't need any more coins ...
But most of the altcoins are based on some other coins and round and round.  This is how it works. I don't say this is good to clone.

But ... you can't fight with that. If authors of some scripts have got problems with that they can sue someone for cloning on their own but most of the codes are clones of btc or ltc anyway Smiley and it is open source. So ... who to sue? Smiley

If something looks suspicious - just best way is to stay away. Keep it real and keep up with the best or die like a rest Smiley

What we can do is to create a "scam report" for each new altcoin.

A list of criteria to rate and classify a new coin with a scam probability rate.

Something like:
- is dev anonymous?
- new bitcointalk account (like "coiname-dev")
- premine impact
- premine address public?
- feature promises without proof of skills/description (like "Anon will be implemented in 10 days")
- copy coin?
- open/closed source
- and more...

This will help to detect possible scams.
Honest devs will address each point, if community demands that.

How about as an alternative solution people just stop investing in or dealing with crapcoins unless they actually offer something unique? And no, Dildocoin being the first coin to be used solely to buy Dildos etc isn't unique and you're only going to make the devs richer and lose money. If a coin has any premine don't mine or bother with it at all. Problem solved.

Well , I'd say that 90% of coins are scams , but that is not close enough. 99% of all the newly released coins are scams.

Investing in a coin early on and finding information is not business of the 'coin police' , but your business.
Coins with innovative features get noticed and rise quickly through the ranks.
Here is a list of some popular coins :- https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=134179.0

You can get into a coin pretty early by looking for signs of popularity, but if you are looking to get in on a coin that is going to surge before anyone else , you need to take the initiative and search for it yourself. At this stage , it is your fault if a coin is a scam and you should look very very carefully before investing.

No longer active on bitcointalk, however, you can still reach me via PMs if needed.

According to your list of criteria:

I don't agree with 1st two - well the rest might be a way to see is coin good or no but 1st two positions are non-sense Smiley

Just for an good example: Bitcoin
-dev is anonymous Smiley (I mean a father, who created a coin)
-he was new to bitcointalk Cheesy hehe .... he creates it Tongue

What do you think?

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say most of us believe in the REAL american idealogy and having police is completely against that idea..  Support and help one another.... don't give people power over you to "protect" you from some scary boogy man..

As it's been stated there are already lots of people on this forum that do this kind of work but to have an actual police force kind of idea would alinate those that don't want to join one and give the "coin police" the ability to falsely accuse enemies of thiers.

You need to think this deep my friend.. your enemies do.

I'd argue that the top 4 categories are still non-scam coins.
And I guess that is what he was looking for.

It's the Alt-Coin section. What do you expect? Some sort of special service for some people who thinks every Alt-Coin is loyal?

A coin organization, that new coin dev´s could go to and get some kind of "stamp of approval" / certification, so alt-coin interested people would have a much better idea witch coins to mine/buy/support.
Possible even start a new coin named coinorg for this purpose.

If something you see is a scam or illegal, you can always report it by clicking 'Report to Moderator'. Plus a lot of members bounce around, and post when they see a scam. In a sense, there is already a sort of coin-police

Alleged scams shouldn't be reported and you're likely to get a bad report for them, but usually if something is illegal then that can be reported (and yes I'm aware those two seem like a contradiction in terms), but sometimes things can be legal in certain countries and not in others. Cannabis seeds come to mind. You can sell them here as long as you don't offer to sell them worldwide and to countries where it is illegal to do so.

That would be really easy to fall prey to corruption.

Currently , something similar happens. One of the popular exchanges ( I don't remember which ) would charge a moderately high sum of BTC , just to register your coin.

This would make it way worse as a clone could make minor changes get it approved and then dump. The organization would be very hard to keep from corruption.
