After over 6 months of deliberation and international negotiations, the industry members of the Uro Foundation have agreed to set the value of Uro at 1 metric tonne of Urea. The method of setting this reference value will be via the Uro Protocol.

Uro Protocol

The Uro Protocol is a document that will be signed by all Global NIERs and NIERs, which will bind their agreement to trade Uro for Urea in their represented regions. The document will be published this Friday (06/06/2014) at 4PM AEST / 2PM HKT / 0500 UTC. The Uro Protocol will set out a clear set of procedures for the exchange of Uro for Urea, provide unprecedented transparency and efficiency to the global Urea trade.

Ratification

The Uro Protocol is due for ratification by all Uro Foundation board members on Monday (09/06/2014) at 4PM AEST / 2PM HKT / 0500 UTC.

Introducing the Uro Foundation

The Uro Foundation will oversee the long term development, growth and maintenance of Uro. Applications from the community are welcome - please post on this thread how you want to contribute and why. We will fluidly create positions as the needs of the Uro ecosystem evolves. Positions can be held by organisations or individuals.

The Uro Foundation member companies are providing the Urea (millions of metric tonnes) to trade against Uro. The way this is will be done is laid out in the Uro Protocol to be released this Friday and ratified on Monday.

It means we are setting the reference value of Uro at 1 Uro = 1 MT Urea. The reference value will be maintained by allowing purchase of Urea with Uro in that ratio.
