I'm sick of being a bitcointalk newb, so I am on the market for a new account.
I'll pay 1 BTC for a Hero Member account from 2011 with a cool-ish name.
I'll send first if trustworthy or ESCROW ONLY

Probably nobody. He probably just wants the account so he can do what both you and I do; signature advertising. Risky investment fronting 1btc just to try scam someone. One negative feedback and the account is ruined.

Agreed. He could earn that 1 BTC back in a sig campaign, easier than scamming someone.

They are verified, and have sold alot of accounts, just some info for you if you are indeed just a good guy wanting to do sig campaigns.... so good luck

Initially, I was against buying these accounts because of scam potential but if you look at it from a strictly signature campaign money making perspective; it would actually be a good investment.
If you are active on this forum, it would only take 834 non-spammy posts a month (@ primedice rates), about 28 a day, to make back the 1 BTC you spent on buying the account.
Obviously use a trusted escrow to purchase the account but buying hero member accounts makes $en$e.

The problem is buying the account from someone trustworthy... I don't want a hacked account. Just because I want another account doesn't mean I intend to scam anyone.

You can purchase a Hero account for 1BTC but what it has to do with 2011? This condition make it a difficult deal. Good luck

Somebody trustworthy probably isn't going to sell you their account. There's no way to tell if an account was stolen or not anyway, but most are probably just sold 'legitimately' rather than hacked, but that's the risk you take with this sort of deal.

I don't think that's necessarily true. Money is money, and there are legitimate reasons to buy an account. I think selling accounts with neutral (or negative) trust is fine, really. Representing positive trust that was not earned -- that's a bit more dicey.

Couldn't someone nice who sells an account always keep an eye on "his" account after it's sold to make sure it's not being used in a scammy way? that person could always anonymously create a new account and rat out the person with the new bought fake account.

Most people won't want to keep tabs on their old account, but what do you define as 'scammy ways' anyway? People don't normally realise something is a scam until after it's happened.

Well clearly, essentially the reason why people don't want this stuff allowed.
