if anyone is relying on blockchain.info and is getting emotional. ask yourself this:
1. have you donated anything to them, because you rely on them soo much you want to ensure they continue to be reliable?
2. why havnt you donated to them you tight fisted bastards ( joe, i love you all really )
3. why not use another wallet service as backup. you do realise that you can dump privkeys into any wallet and be able to continue as you were. you are not locked into blockchain.info.
4. if you are a business just using blockchain.info. why are you not also using API's of other explorers, as a double checker.

1+2) I use their shared coin service, which is paid. ;-)

3+4) You are absolutely right.

blockchain.info very rarely has any problems, but just make sure you have a back up of your wallet just in case.

I am locked out of my account and have entered the correct identifier, password and email verification, email bounces back for support. Is this a technical glitch or will my account be back up?

If all your details are correct then it must just be due to whatever's happening with their site at the moment. Just have some patience and I'm sure you'll be ok.

If you are getting an error message then it's probably something on their end - but if your just locked out it could possibly be you have mistyped. I'd say try again and if it doesn't work assume their down. They've been having issues all day (and a few for the last week regarding txs) so I'm not surprised if they're doing some quick maintenance or the likes during off-peak hours.

Thanks for all your replies, i checked the blockchain using other services and the funds are safe..

i also have backed up the private key of blockchain.info wallet, so i think i have done my part as a responsible non technical person,

But i was scared because , what if they had lost all private keys and someone had sweeped them all...that is a concern
That is not possible:

or

Quote
Is it secure? Will another mybitcoin.com situation occur again?

Yes, it is, and no, we are protected from such situations as all of your private keys are encrypted with your password before leaving your computer. We do not hold a copy of your password, and thus are unable to view or spend your Bitcoins. You retain full control of your private keys, so your wallets can never be seized or blocked and can be imported into any desktop Bitcoin client.

Thanks, I've gone to lost identifier alias link on their site, and they have locked me out for 4 hours, this is a wake up call to say the least! Just hope its not something more sinister, anyone else locked out of their wallet?

I believe it could be because when I attempted to login with email 2FA, I entered the email code I got when I logged out last time, attempting to login this time, it did not send a new code, so hopefully just down to that.

Being locked out? as long as I have memonic, password, 2FA email I can my account access back right? I think I've aged a whole year in the past hour, really need to stop treating it as some sort of online banking and secure my BTC.

OK.. everything is restored now. It was a DDoS attack, which was defeated by the Blockchain hosting. May be they should get DDoS protection, such as the one provided by Cloudfare.

I think they do, but how can you stop people ddos sites constantly? Defeats the purpose if they go down due to clodufare i think.

Someone said blockchain is free and has a funds crunch now.  WHy is it free? How does it in fact survive?  I don't think people would mind a VERY SMALL fee being taken out of certain transactions to help stabilize the site.

How do any other sites survive? Adverts (though they're quite subtle). I think they might have got a big investment from somewhere as well.

I don't really understand why people freak out about Blockchain.info going away. I don't know if I configured it this way, but every time I make a change to my wallet (i.e. add a new address, etc), they send me an encrypted json file with all the info I need to restore my wallet elsewhere. What you should be more worried about is Blockchain.info's login screen being compromised to capture your password as you log in. (That's the element of trust involved with using their service.)

[edit]Hmm. So, since I last checked, it seems Multibit has removed the functionality from their app. So I guess we are semi-screwed if Blockchain.info went down to restore our wallets elsewhere. (I'm not sure I have the programming chops to back the wallet decryption functionality out of the Blockchain.info source code on github....)

You can export your private keys in the "import / export" tab after logging in (ofc when blockchain.info is working), and you should be able to import the keys to other wallet clients easily (when the site is down). Smiley

For future consultations (if this issue come back) there are these others sites where you can see your transactions:
