Bitcoin is not ready to go mainstream yet. It is still very difficult for most to buy bitcoin and it is too technical to send and receive coins. We need a wireless bitcoin off-the-chain payment system similar to NFC for bitcoin to be widely accepted. That day will come.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Definitely not. Hacks and robberies are even occurring to the most tech savvy users. If we really want Bitcoin to become mainstream, then we should invent a method to prevent all these robberies. Also, there are no reliable Bitcoin exchanges right now. The existing exchanges, are not that trustworthy. No one knows when another Mt Gox will happen.

If people can get their bitcoins stolen then they can also have their bank accounts drained.

There are a few safe hardware wallets out and I'm sure many more safe methods of storing your coins will become available very soon.

"someone will be left holding the bag at the end"

Yep - those that get in early will be holding a big bag of money.

Anyone with a campaign ad in their signature -- for an organization with which they are not otherwise affiliated -- is automatically deducted credibility points.

I have had my bank account funds drained 4 times in the last six years by fraudsters. I was made whole each time but the very nature of the system is insecure. With BTC a few very basic steps can keep your wallet safer than a bank.

We'll probably never see more than 0.1 % of the world's population use Bitcoin. Currently, we're at 0.01 %.

Define tech savvy.
I met a lot of people, who don't know shit about technology, but brag about there knowledge, because they once read something on wikipedia.
I even worked with people in Software Developing Companies, who were not able to read code somebody else wrote and their own code was just shit, but would also tell everybody what great Computer Specialists they are.

not until block chain pruning is implemented and the block size limit is removed.
right now bitcoin can't support more than 7 transactions per sec.

No way in hell.

For Bitcoin to be mainstream ready, people shouldn't even have to know what the blockchain, cold storage, or public key cryptography are.

here here...BTC needs to have a front end that Joe public can use without the need to understand any of the technical aspects. e.g. do ppl know how VISA does short term money market deals in order to use a credit card, the answer is no
