I have a rig with 5x Sapphire Dual-X R9 280X. They are all the same. When I used to mine scrypt coins one of them used to get hotter than the others, and it was not related to any other factor, it was the card. Now I'm mining X11 coins, that one shows a lot HWs. I've attached an image of sgminer. Can I RMA that?

update: It works fine while mining X13 coins.

OS: Ubuntu 14.04
MB: MSI Z77A-GD65
PSU: 2x Corsair 850W
Ram: Kingston 4Gb
CPU: Intel Celeron 1620
Miner: 40% optimized sph-sgminer

Try the card on a different machine, or connecting it to a different slot, take out one of the cards and swap it with the card you suspect to be faulty, and see how it behaves. It could be faulty, yes.

Start the elimination process. But generally speaking, with 280x, they should work fine with stock settings (they won't be optimized though) without h/w errors. So if you do get h/w errors at stock, it's most likely a faulty card so just RMA it.

It showed HW errors just a few times. It works fine now. I guess something was wrong with the config. Thanks anyway for the responses.
