will it be open source? Looks pretty functional now, what are you working on now?
We will slowly release kernel source code for review (code that manage the network interaction). Somewhere in 2015 we will release the full source code. The protocol specifications will be released in the following months after launch.
What you see is only 50%-60% of the interface. We are working on "address options" section which is big and complex. Address options means
- network level double factor authentication features
- escrowing system
- multisignatures
.

.
In a word, security code. One of the main features of the network is that loosing the private key of an address doesn't mean you will loose your coins. Starting from the first weeks, we will publish public / private keys of our addresses as a demonstration that compromising the private key, means nothing for an MSK owner.
Can a bitcoin / NXT / shitcoin owner do this ? ....
No.
MSK has nothing to do with Bitcoin / NXT source code. It's new software written from scratch. You will see it from the first minutes after using the wallet.
