According to this news article, FB is allowing dogecoin, digibytes, einsteinium, fedoracoin, mintcoin, reddcoin, quark, worldcoin, vertcoin, karmacoin, earthcoin, trollcoin, HTMLcoin and donationcoin. I wonder Bitcoin is not in the list !!! Does it mean that Facebook board of directors understood they are a bit late in Bitcoin mining and hence mined other alts and now boosting those through their platform for quick profit ? p.s. Juck wont probably like Bitcoin as Winklevoss hold 1% of it. I think Facebook will jump on board with bitcoin eventually. They absolutely will. The low transaction fees make it a no brainer for any company that does high volume credit card sales.

Eventually, Facebook, along with most major businesses will be on board with Bitcoin. This wave can't be stopped.

My doubts are high in this assumption...Facebook are probably just waiting for the right moment to start accepting BTC so they can gain a pile themselves. My opinion is they predicted it to die off but now they are unsure when to introduce it due to the prices rising If they predict BTC are going down they should know the other alt coin will be gone as well since btc are the main thing and btc are too expensive it wont make much profit for them if they did so .

why is their no face coin or fbcoin ? Because they would have to create it themselves, fb would def. not accept a currency made by some random wannabe dev.

Could Facebook (or Google or Yahoo) create a crypto currency that threatens bitcoin?

It's just an app made by someone else. Facebook is just allowing that app.
By allowing the app they can "get their feet wet" with Bitcoin being used with Facebook. In the future they could implement features that are Bitcoin related.

It is not Facebook, it is apps that use Facebook that accept them.
All I know is that I do not want my BTC anywhere near my facebook account.

It is not Facebook, it is apps that use Facebook that accept them. Yes. Both are different. Zynga is already accepting Bitcoins, for its applications / games such as FarmVille. And Zuckerberg will never allow Facebook to deal with Bitcoins, as long as the Winkelwii are holding their coins.

yeah, i doubt facebooks ceo even knows such apps exists in their network. all apps are allowed if they dont break t.o.s., so this isnt such a big of a deal as some ppl would like it to be. shame, coz facebook would be a nice and wide market that could make bitcoin even more viral

Even if he did have an ax to grind with them, it should not prevent zuckerburg from making a potentially profitable business decision

Let's hope so. Someone had earlier posted that Facebook might be accepting Dogecoin very soon (instead of Bitcoin). That move, if confirmed is suspicious. Why Doge instead of BTC?
