Bitcoin/cryptocurrencies was created, that are supposed to lower down cost. And sometimes voluntary in the spread of bitcoin awareness. Why are tickets to Bitcoin/crypto seminars around the world selling at ridiculous prices? 300- 1000USD the price deters bitcoiners as they might as well buy 1btc instead of attending the seminar. we need decentralized bitcoin seminars

They are for speculators and are also probably some mlm vultures as well.

If you mean conferences ....
The excuse usually given is that its for entrepreneurs and business owners.
They garner financial benefit from it by meeting others in the industry, therefore they pay to attend.
A lot of the Bitcoin conferences have not been for enthusiasts/hobbyists.

Conferences are a different animal for sure. More of an educational and networking opportunity.

There's one conference like that coming up shortly where I live. And... thinking about the price of it... Yep - I'd be better off simply buying BTC with that $$$. And given how BTC prices go, I could then attend 10 conferences next year!

it is expensive.. but then again people pay a couple hundred in FIAT just to see Bieber for 3 hours. i prefer to spend a couple hundred for a couple days of bitcoin rather than seeing that little twit

Every seminar is this way. I attend some seminars for work and they're very expensive affairs. I don't get why companies spend tens of thousands (flights / hotels / booking fees) to have representation at the seminar but 90% send some intern or lowly employee who can't answer simple questions. Can't complain since I get to attend them for free and I get all the free pencils, USB sticks and candy I want. Seminars, if the big shots bother to show up, is all about networking and socialites. How effective are they? Probably not. It's a relic (a dinosaur) from the pre-internet age. Considering these Bitcoin / coin seminars only attract hundreds, what good does it do when it's a market involving millions of people?

The better question to be asking is why are people paying the silly prices? If people are willing and prepared to get fleeced then they will.

People are ready to pay ALOT almost everything connected about Bitcoin. Did you see all BTC miners on Ebay? They are selling! It's undesrtandable that seminars are hot too. GHS on cloud mining services are going by ridiculous prices. Almost everything connected to BTC is going far above real price. It's just the way it is, and if you have some business potentional in yourself, you can use it to earn a living out of it.

Conferences are expensive.
I'm running the Dubai Bitcoin Conference.
Some conferences have lost money, most just break even.
For me this one is a labor of love-- I want to see more info about Bitcoin spread.
Interesting the mention of a decentralized conference. We thought about making this one run by a token and let everyone chip in for speaker and other costs and also share in any profit.

For comparison sake-- Superreturn, the major private equity conference costs about $5000 for a regular, standard ticket. (Not a misprint)
