Thank you. Now I'll continue my investigation into ripple and the way the site works.

Complicated. And people say Bitcoin isn't simple...

So does that mean, we just need to get others to register through your original link?

Hmm, I don't think this thing is really actual Ripple-per-se, it seems to be a somewhat hacked up / dumbed down version of it.

For example I don't see any accounts nor ways to create accounts, nor ways to designate types of things you are crediting people with, such as BiTCoins for example

I had thought Ripple was a system whereby you could for example send me 0.2 BTC and/or trust me for up to 0.2 BTC, so that we could set up a network of credit/debit denominated in BTC. Then presumably also set up some other thing, like maybe some kind of fiat, similarly, in order to be able to do exchanges.

They might have hacked Ripple code to make this thing but I don't think it is relaly representative of Ripple.

Here is all I could find out about my "account": http://villages.cc/?u=knotwork

As it does not seem to have any way we can tell it about btcoins I guess you'd need my bitcoin address if you wanted to send me any, and would have to send them outside their system rather than simple as credit inside their system. I guess this address should be find for such uses: 1EHdHpY5K1RYjnABC4RMK3NNDDm92E8ayG

Villages.cc has been developed by Ryan Fugger, like ripple. Is a simplified version where hours are the only units, without interest rates and without exchange rates (that enable charging proportional fees). You can learn more about ripple here:

http://ripple-project.org/

Simplifying a lot...
Endorsements (hearts) are the account limits. When you give me 2 hearts you're saying "I accept jtimon to owe me up to 2 hours".
Acknowledgements are the payments.
Posts are just for advertising things you can offer for hours or things you want.
Reading this should be helpful:

https://villages.cc/about/how/

About the big direct acknowledgements you're making...
Direct acknowledgements are not the norm. For example, say I have an offer "$10 in bitcoins for each hour". When you contact me to make the deal I won't accept direct acknowledgements as payment. If you pay me through a trusted acknowledgement someone I actually trust promises 1 hour to me instead of you who I don't trust. If there's no trust from me to you (through other users, transitively) you can't pay me.

So you need hearts from other to be able to pay someone. You need to give hearts to others so that someone can pay you.

I'll be happy to answer any question you have.
You can also join the ripple forum and ask there whatever you don't understand about villages or ripple.

2 different forms of free-money: Freicoin (free of basic interest because it's perishable), Mutual credit (no interest because it's abundant)

Guys I think you should look at https://ripplepay.com/

I've also just started investigating this, and found the above. This allows you to create a profile and link to other people you know and trust, and transfer money, by hand to them.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=f9KqSgRZYgg

I think this system if implemented with some of our exchange threads, like https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=27055.0 or https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=62879 can revolutionize the way we transfer funds between each other.
