Where was this at? Newegg?
If you move something to the shopping cart it should be locked in, especially if you hit a pay for button.

For Bitcoin to be a true global currency the value of BTC needs always to rise.
If BTC became the global currency & money supply = 100 Trillion then ⊅1.00 BTC = $4,761,904.76.

If this was at newegg a rep there told me today that there were some 50 outstanding orders on the 5970s from people who placed orders last time they were in stock and got shafted when it sold out. He said this would likely (along with the snipers) make it sell out instantly when it came back in stock again.

No real way to win with this, and if you try to beat the snipers by using an automated monitoring tool you'll get IP banned at the newegg site.

Wrong, this does not happen with Nvidia products.
