It has so many facets, It's mind boggling!!!

And you can easily earn extra cash, for not a lot of effort. Great to be one of the pioneers, to promote crypto currency to the world.  Grin Grin Grin

I joined because I love the idea of a currency whose value is dictated by nothing else than the trust and consensus of a global community; tens of thousands of persons rather than a few corrupt and/or incompetent politicians.

You don't care about the socio-political implications of cryptocurrencies?

Conceivably, one could be in it for the money -- or have gotten into it for the money -- and still support the future of crypto-currencies. I, for one, am trying to make some money as well. Smiley

Of course, that's an important part of why I'm here too Smiley
However, if you're here only for the money and you don't believe and don't care about the other implications of cryptocurrency, this would seem like a huge gamble.

I feel safe in my investment only because I know that, if it fails for some reason, I will have been proud to have contributed to this system. (Though I know it won't fail because of all of the problems which it solves.)

Well, I suppose it is a gamble -- it's a new asset class. There is little history here. But, if you are simply and investor/trader, one could look at the long term TA/price support and perhaps figure that there is a lot of money to be made here.

I originally started mining Bitcoin to buy drugs on Silk Road. I ended up making so much money because they were easy to mine back then that now I just buy drugs my local university. It makes me feel good to help the local college students pay their way through school and I love the feeling I get when giving back to my community.

but drugs? buying drugs to help the community? I wouldn't feel very happy about that.

I'm joking. My idea of good drugs is Geritol and Mylanta. That is why many original users started Bitcoin though. Everyone gets up in arms about Silk Road when everything at SR is available at most American universities.

I went to the electric daisy carnival last night only to find out no skrillix this year (bummer). There were so many people getting stoned on something around me I felt stupid just getting drunk. If that much dope was being mailed around America the post office wouldn't be struggling to survive. SR was never a big problem but it did help Bitcoin get it's start. Law enforcement in this country is so stupid. They spent untold millions chasing DPR and I had a poli-sci professor that was dealing the entire time I was in college.  They know where the drugs really are and yet they do nothing to stop it. Crazy.

I joined bitcoin because I really don't like banks. They are slow, it's hard to get my money out of it, they are expensive...

After that, i hope i could get rich thanks to bitcoin. I have some and i try to make bitcoin transactions, even if where i live, there is nothing i could buy with.

Because of easy money, but now it's not like it was in past. Hope price drop down so we can invest more.
