Am I the only one who enjoyed the second and third movies?
Guess I just saw the meaning behind them.
No, I do too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHpTZFHv4lA - Matrix and Philosophy Documentary

Dude, what is up with pulling topics from over a week ago? Literally to make comments that don't make any sense. "they're great" but "you're going to donwload and watch it" and then "tell him" about them again? On topic: Actually, I preferred the orginal plot of the Matrix movies before it was changed to make more sense for the average Joe. Yes, this is true, though its not clear how hard the Wachowski's fought to keep their original idea.
The only "official statement" I know of is an off-hand comment from one of the brothers on the DVD commentary for one of the director's cuts (I forget which but I think its on the Ultimate Matrix Collection.) He is discussing the whole setup for the Matrix and mentions that they "originally had a different idea" before dismissing the question as irrelevant to the story. (e.g. it doesn't matter to him why the machines did what they did, as its just a plot device to get the story started.)
More details about what that original plan was come from some written material based on early pre-release information from the movie. Specifically, Neil Gaiman's short story "Goliath" is set in the Matrix universe and includes this alternate view. I have also heard that the "novelization" of the Matrix included this idea but there's no such novel that I know of; its possible that a novelized version of an early script exists (there's a published version of the shooting script for sale but that includes the story as filmed.)

I love the Matrix trilogy. One of the best films ever made. I would urge everyone to buy the DVDs or blueray and not download the films for free. Please support the film makers.
if you are part of a film maker.? I agree with you because downloading movies for free is part of the theft'' in my opinion''

In the matrix the world is an illusion, and when you escape the matrix you discover another world that is even shittier than the illusion.
A world in which human bodies are used to provide energy to run the matrix (where do these bodies get their energy from isn't explained - presumably from the sun which is used to grow crops to feed the human bodies (but why not use sheep? - or just use the sun directly) - but then why would they need to develop a matrix?) None of it made any sense.
But I enjoyed the first one and have seen it at least 10 times.

The original plot was that humans were used as processors (as a massive neural network). However, the director thought this would be too confusing for the average joe so they changed it to the whole battery thing.

Animatrix. Love animatrix. Cool with different shows that fill in some point gaps in movie. And there are 2 that really are bad that is my opinion.

In a desperate act, the humans destroyed the skies, because the machines were powered by solar energy.

The perfet anology of what our world actually is IMO, well the 1st one. Then it goes onto potential IMO. Furthermore I LLLOVE the fact that they point out the idea of reality.
For if you believe beyond a shadow of a doubt everything around you is real.. you've got a lot of learning to do, a lot.
For an even closer analogy of the future, the story could have been that it wasn't war between man and the machines, it was just the fact that no one could afford to live a normal life, so we all had to plug ourselves in to a simulation because it was the only way any of us will be able to experience decent living standards. That, and renting yourself out as a battery is the only available "job" anyone has left because the economy imploded in a debt-vortex (unless, of course, you have some bitcoin, in which case you won't need to resort to such drastic measures ).
It's the chi, qi, prana, orgone, zero-point, etheric, life force energy they are harnessing. In a desperate act, the humans destroyed the skies, because the machines were powered by solar energy. According to the film: " The human body generates more bioelectricity than a 120-volt battery and over 25,000 BTUs of body heat. Combined with a form of fusion, the machines had found all the energy they would ever need." Although this isn't actually true since over the course of a day, a single human body generates between 6000 and 10,000 BTUs. I guess Morpheus didn't specify a timescale to be fair. Maybe he meant 25000 BTUs a week, heh.

Ah, thanks for that clarification. I'd think that human mechanical heat would be insignificant compared to any form of nuclear power though, so that seems to weaken the plot a bit...
