Does anyone actually look at those ads? I've seen them before, spammed on popular BTC addresses. Seems dumb.

I do see them when I click on a blockchain.info address page. But I would never actually visit the site advertised....

I don't think it is an effective way to advertise. But if viewing the tx in a block explorer, you could see the ad.

The majority of the people do not read messages I think, myself included. By default, most bitcoin wallets do not show any messages. If you want to advertise, btc advertising networks will reach more eyeballs One of the biggest businesses that offer wallets to their consumers show their users all notes attached to transactions.

No way should you do that. Like many people said, it'll bloat up the blockchain with your small transactions!

I think it is not impossible, but not many advertisers will be interested in it because very few people will actually view the ads
Personally I don't want to view this kind of ads for sure

Which one? I believe he was talking about blockchain.info. Btw, the "notes" are only in the site's database, but not in the blocks.

The ads would need to have a nice designated spot that would be constructed for the occasion 10,000satoshis/transaction is very low compared to other international transfer standards but maybe it is expensive compared to what it could be

I hardly take notice of them when I see them on the blockchain (at say, an address I just sent to), and when I do notice, I would never listen to the ad....

I notice them all the time, but who actually takes the trouble to copy/paste the web site and go there? I don't even like to click links, I don't want to copy/paste some random site from the blockchain!

You should not use address for adds, since BTC is more about beeing anonymous than beeing visible. By adding adds you made yourself visible, but you are not anonymous anymore. Well BTC itself is not that anonymous as we think, but still is in sort of way better than your credit card. I'm not sure where you are pointing at with adds, why would you use them for ?

I wonder why he receives so many when other addresses receive nothing Deposits are often 0.0001BTC! IMO, there are 2 reasons. 1. The address is one of the richest addresses ( http://bitcoinrichlist.com/top100). So, people are more likely to check that page from time to time, and so it has a higher successful rate for the ads and begging stories (I personally don't think it works at all). If you check the list of richest addresses, you can see there are notes on many of the addresses as well. 2. The bitcoin on that address is indeed the "DPR Seized Coins 2". So, you can find some sorts of messages to the FBI and US government (Of course, the FBI won't care about it).

"DPR Seized Coins 2" is the name of the adress(blockchain.org gives sometimes names to public know addresses) The messages are what is under "Public Note"

IMO many of the "beggers" do not speak english, at least not very well and their english translations are very bad.
