It's more interesting to imagine the secondary effects here.

What do people do when they travel? Bring local currency. Tourism driven businesses may begin to realise they have an opportunity in accepting bitcoin from travellers who are already using it to pay for the trip. Touristic businesses are probably used to dealing with people using stolen credit cards or doing chargebacks more than alot of businesses, so they'll see bitcoin like a form of universal cash.

The more that tourist areas accept bitcoin, the more people will bring bitcoin to spend when travelling, and vice versa. Very nice positive feedback loop. Why change to dozens of different currencies for all the places you visit when you could keep one that's accepted almost everywhere? And when you get home with a little left over, it turns out they accept it back home too...

That's very interesting, Expedia is the biggest travel agency of the world !

Think that after this news, price of Bitcoin will go to the moon !  Grin Grin Grin

So, do you know that Expedia is a company of Microsoft?

Maybe Microsoft testing Bitcoin in a him company, so there is a probability that Microsoft in the next future will use Bitcoin as payment sistem. If this will happen, is the top for Bitcoin !

My default assumption is that this news would have pushed up prices a bit across all exchanges, but that definitely hasn't happened today..

Company X taking Bitcoin no longer increases the price like it used to, maybe the mindset is changing that these companies need Bitcoin not Bitcoin needing these companies.

It's more interesting to imagine the secondary effects here.

Touristic businesses are probably used to dealing with people using stolen credit cards or doing chargebacks more than alot of businesses, so they'll see bitcoin like a form of universal cash.

Why change to dozens of different currencies for all the places you visit when you could keep one that's accepted almost everywhere? And when you get home with a little left over, it turns out they accept it back home too...

Oh god, I got a semi erection reading this and how it will affect the bitcoin price. Cheesy

I personally think that the price will drop about 20-30$, because it always drop in price when a good news comes out!

Why? Because people sell before the demand is being made!

Space for rent if its still trending

agreed

plus what happens when yahoo finance and bloomberg finance list bitcoin in their finance price index/ticker?
next day google have to add so as not to look retarded and lose traffic

so, obviously a travel operator integrating is slightly more longwinded to add and has to be evaluated and find a partner like bitpay or coinbase. but expedia adding means instantly the plethora of other travel operators have to at least evaluate, some WILL add

I am Bonkers BTW

Wow! This is huge news! Expedia is a very, very big, billion dollar company. I think it is actually THE biggest company so far to accept Bitcoin. This is the kind of thing we need to drive mass adoption by the world's leading companies.

All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.

No offense, but that kind of sounds communistic-ish.  We don't need BTC to do anything.  The natural flow is inevitable.  Give it time and have patience.
