We had wallet running 20 minutes before launch but did not start mining until EXACTLY 21:00 GMT.  A little detective work let us find the wallet source and compile it early.

This is not true. I've found the link on github by searching it, dev has nothing to do with it. The pool was started at block 3 when I saw that the blockchain has started.

xhash is fair and has the highest hash rate right now!

and that means new miners would NOT join them, as you dont join the pool with the highest hashrate...

And they should also know that the more miners, the smaller their own payout.
