ASICs usually come with the appropiate PSU. There really isn't a need to buy one, in most cases.

Yep the ASICS mostly come with power supplies in the box. If this isnt the case you should check out the forum, there are threads about this.

You will need to use one big enough to power the asic, depends on which one you use on how many watts needed.   If you use a bigger supply then needed it does not use extra watts is i understand question right.  EX if miner needs 400 and  you use a 500 psu will use around 400 watts, not 500.

Stick with big names and bigger is better
All depends what you want to use it for 1500 corsair would be a bit much for a few usb block erupters (just for exaple)

Corsair, Superflower, Seasonic are 3 safe choices. For things you want to run 24 hours a day the normal rule of thumb is don't go over 75% of capacity. So if you draw 500w I would suggest a 700w power supply. Keep in mind with top quality power supplies you can reduce those numbers a bit. I am just offering you the safest choice.

Also with any power supply check to make sure they have the right amount of cables to hook up what you want. Pcie are the most used for my equipment. Adaptors will work but you want to be carefull especially with molex that you don't melt the cables and/or start a fire.
