Five weeks after the NFD scammer robbed the NFD community and disappeared, the new all-victim NFD team is proud to announce that NFD is now launched and distributed!!



Step-By-Step Instructions On How To Download, Install And Run Your NFD Client:

1. Go to NFD's official Bitbucket repository, and download the latest client's .zip file. At the moment, the latest is "nfd-client-NFD-1.1.5-20140623-A.zip"
2. Once you've downloaded the .zip to your computer, unzip it and go to the inner "nfd-client..." file. You should see a file named "run.sh" inside.
2a) If you're running a Linux or Apple system, look for the "run.sh" file.
3. Click "run.bat" (or "run.sh"). You should see a command-line app run a wall of text.
4. Wait until you see this message: "NFD server NFD-1.1.5-20140623-A started successfully."  followed by INFO: nxt.apiServerEnforcePOST = "true"
4a) Those two messages should be the last two from your command-line app.
5. Once you see those messages, open up a new browser (tab) and go to this URL: http://127.0.0.1:8876/ . Your browser should now show the NFD login screen.
6. Click "Don't have an account? Click here to create one!"
7. Click "Want to choose your own secret phrase? Click here."
8. Enter the exact same secret passphrase that you put into the hasher, the same passphrase whose hash you sent in.
9. Refresh the browser, which will take you back to the login screen.
10. Then, just enter your passphrase and click the arrow!

This is the first time I've seen this type of wallet and I don't understand how or why I would lease/issue assets/buy an alias/generate a token/how to forge. Can someone point me in the right direction? Do I need a NXT wallet? Help please. Thanks!

well to answer my own question, seems to be a limitation of the current wallet and you have to use a workaround.

This worked for me:

In the Register Alias window, select Type = Other, URI = acct:xxx@nfd (where xxx is your numeric account ID, you can get that by left clicking on your account ID in the upper left wallet corner)

The wallet you have is the right one, and it's a lot like a Nxt wallet. In fact, the functions for it are the same as for Nxt.

Essentially, except for the user interface, your NFD wallet is the same as Nxt's - so the Nxt how-tos will teach you how to do the same thing with your NFD wallet. That's one advantage of being a straight clone.

Starting tomorrow morning, both me and MaWo are going to concentrate on the people left out, left behind and robbed by that lurking hacker who stole from several NFDers. I'm going to start on the PMs tomorrow morning, and clean up as best I can. That might take all day tomorrow. Then I'm going to mass-PM everyone on the distribution list to make sure they got their coins, and ask if anyone has any trouble or issues. Unfortunately, there have been a few rough edges to this launch because of NFD's unique character. Quite a few people simply gave up on NFD once NFDCoin had robbed us all back in May. Some of them didn't respond to my previous mass-PMs. Once they see that NFD is "for real," they might take an interest only to find that they threw away or forgot their passphrase. So there has to be a bit of a cleanup period and find-out-where-everyone-stands survey.

But after that, the plan is to get NFD listed! The two most viable targets are Dgex and Poloniex - but to get NFD on Poloniex, I'm going to need a lot of help.

At the same time as the vote drive gets rolling, I'll be setting up the social-networking presences for NFD. We've got ourselves a real coin, and I'm going to be spreading the word! And you can too! Once I have each page set up, I'll announce it here. At a minimum, NFD will be on Facebook, Twitter, Reddit and LinkedIn - maybe Pinterest if I can figure it out.

The most immediate stage in the plan, once the post-launch cleanup is done, will be getting NFD on an exchange and getting the word out!

But that doesn't mean the entire team is going to turn into a bunch of flacks. There will be technical innovations put in the pipeline, starting with an improved user interface. Also on the to-do list is a website that's an improvement over the present "alpha" Site and a more sophisticated block explorer. Since NFD is going to be community-centric, our first "real" improvement will most likely be to the browser client.

Of course there's more going into the pipeline, but our more sophisticated ideas are merely in the brainstorming stage right now. We'd much rather put first things first and take it a step at a time. But rest assured: there will be "news you can use"!
