If you're dead set on buying mining equipment that ships in a week and using your credit card, I'd recommend this company:

-link removed by HT xD

Not the best prices, but should be on your doorstep in less than a week and you can use either bank wire, BTC, or credit card to pay.

Also, if you're just starting out, I'd recommend one of the smaller miners like the Rockminer R-box or Antminer S1 to see if mining is for you.

WARNING !! Anything bobsags3 related is a scam.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

How is it hard to buy mining hardware? There's like twenty ads about it on the forum everyday, more than ten reputable sellers, Amazon, Tiger Direct, Wal-Mart, and... Jeez, people randomly bringing it up in conversations.

I'm going to but it simply:

It's not affordable to buy mining hardware.

Depending, it's not necessarily hard to buy the hardware, but the expense-payout ratio is too high.

Buying NEW mining hardware is hard. Other than that, it's not hard to get your hands on out-dated equipment.

I do sympathize with the OP, though. It is quite hard.

I did research it a bit, and also saw them slathered all over this and other forums. They seemed legit.

This is the first "splurge" I've done on mining gear, and I can't afford for it to be a bust.  It is supposed to arrive on Wednesday... should I inspect it and look for anything obvious, or try and outright send it back?

I'd check it, there's a chance it actually works. I think some people got working hardware from him. Get a camera and record the unboxing so you have proof in case it came damaged.

Tell us how it went.

Rule #1:  The part in bold, and anything dealing with bitcoin at present do not mix.  That's what I tell anyone asking me about bitcoins.  If you can only afford to lose $10, then just buy $10 worth of bitcoins

Rule #2:  If you can't profit from mining without a price jump, then you should have spent the money buying bitcoins.  If you can't grasp this concept fully and completely, you will fail at many things in life, not just mining.

I've seen plenty of sites that list companies as currently shipping or are otherwise reputable that just aren't.  There are probably shill accounts on this forum talking up shitty products and companies.  You have to do your research and maybe sort of take advice from people with good trust ratings (and research the ratings). The key is research, research, math, think, research, repeat 30 or so times.  I've come to a conclusion that works for me:  I have only found that Bitmaintech products work for me, and I will never spend even the lint in my pockets for a preorder again.
