Kickstarter's payments work entirely on the premise that they can autocharge upon hitting the goal but Bitcoin can't do automatic charges, transactions are initiated on the payer side and not the payee side.

Erm? Did you even click the link? The link was for a documentary about bitcoin and how it's killing off traditional currencies; not for a payment method for kickstarter.

Actually, kickstarter payments could very easily work with bitcoin. Kickstarter could act as an escrow. If goal isn't reached / whatever, the coins are sent back. Honestly, it's not a very hard concept.
