I had 3 Antminer S1 in my small home office for about 4 days until I realized I needed a solution - its 90 degrees outside and probably hotter inside. The ceiling fan and a/c really did nothing. After taking a closer look at all nooks and crannies in my house I noticed I had an outlet in the crawlspace (for non-us people, its like a half cellar with varying height.). So I used 2 cinder blocks and 2x4 to make a stand and got all 3 S1 running in no time.

BTW... solved the ethernet problem with a Edimax ethernet bridge. I just could not get the S1's to work with their built in wifi, for god knows what reason. The Edimax works great, with no loss of throughput.

How? I sold those inefficient space heaters months ago and moved onto more efficient kit. Smiley

Best solution for heating issues is much cool air. How to get it in a very cheap way? Here is our soltion that is working great.

Our miners are hosted in a private building (garage), shortly after start running them we realized thet we have a massiv heat problem. Thinking about it, we need something cheap, thats for sure.

So we took a excavator and dig out a 50m long and 5 meter deep shaft where we put a tube on the ground. Next step was to get back all the ground into the long hole.

The entry of that tube is somewhere in the middle of a meadow with a little hat on it to prevent rain and water coming in. The other end leads to the miners and gives them fresh cool air as much as they want. The ground cools the air in an effective way.

So far, we get 7°-8° Celsius air in summer and winter. Works like hell and once it's done there are no more costs for cooling anymore ;-)

What is the diameter of the tube and what kind of fan to get the cool air out of it?

So I take it this would not be a viable solution for people living in an apartment  Grin

Yeah it's a good plan but would only work for barns, guesthouses, or garages where you have lots of land nearby.  Most buildings like that could use evaporator coolers for roughly the same cost I'd imagine.
