Bitmarket.ph is a grassroots online marketplace, directory, and payment processor for entrepreneurs in the Philippines. Our initial target market is small local businesses, with an emphasis on the thousands of social media merchants and small business owners who have no access to traditional online payment methods like credit cards or PayPal due to the many barriers of entry. We want to connect them to the entire country and the world, using the Bitcoin payment network, to give them a fighting chance against a growing global marketplace. Besides an online marketplace for Filipino merchants, we aim to assist local non-profit organizations and charitable institutions as well.
Bitmarket.ph is a company founded by a team of trusted local entrepreneurs with a great track record in multiple local industries with many diverse interests, employing hundreds of people between them.
We believe Bitcoin will be an empowering tool for an emerging market like the Philippines. Even though a very large percentage of Filipinos have no access to traditional banking, about 40 million Filipinos have access to the Internet, and mobile phone penetration is almost 100%. There is a great potential for this market to bypass current traditional payment systems and make the leap to the next step, which we believe will be Bitcoin.
Bitmarket.ph aims to be at the forefront of this leap forward.

Bunny Baker, a small cake-making business, started accepting Bitcoin as early as December of 2013. Mr. Delicious is an artisanal sundries merchant that sells gourmet bacon and cured meats and started accepting Bitcoin even though their shop is located only in a weekend market. Wingman Acacia Estates is the first restaurant in the Philippines to officially accept Bitcoin payments and hosted a very successful Bitcoin Philippine meet-up last May 10, 2014.
