As of now we're also accepting donations in Bitcoins. Our address is 1Gx3WWAirdXa4gFuYJoShZHP8kvG89b1AH and this should be considered the definite one which shouldn't change anytime soon. If you've seen previous claims by someone pretending to collect donations in our name (e.g. lately on Twitter): they're a scam and should be reported.

We'd appreciate if you donate as much as you can spare, be it in BitCoins or any other of our accepted methods.

As you can guess we're under quite some heavy load since the release of the Gitmo leak some days ago and are also facing some DDoS since last night. Thus our sysadmins busy keeping our network of servers operational and secure and updating our donation page across all our mirrors is low on our priority list.

Therefore I urge you to not send many BitCoins to the address above until we prove that this is legit by putting the address on our official donation page! This should be done in at least a few days. Until then we're happy to receive a few coins for us to get familiar with trading and exchanging them, but please wait for proof before you send big amounts!

Thanks,
Brian from WikiLeaks

Send bitcoins to 12pDkk7FRKjXRCCd7B3aEmz7Tzqq6i9vHw.  Don't accept impostors pretending to be Brian pretending to be WikiLeaks.  And please send as much as you can but please don't send so much.  But send as much as you can.

While this is exciting to me (it was only a matter of time IMO), I urge everyone to be cautious. This could just as easily be a scam as the real thing. Wait until WikiLeaks posts a Bitcoin address on their site and just use that address.

My thought exactly.
And doesn't Assange have a private key he can use to sign the official address?

So people, this can be a scam, don't donate until you're sure it's not!
