So a guy that likely wants to remain anon came up to me today wanting to sell me this 2011 Casascius 1 btc physical bitcoin for exactly 1 bitcoin.  Because I'm a bitcoin baron and believe in this currency / community I wouldn't simply take the man for something worth much more than 1 bitcoin simply because he didn't know.  I'm just not that guy.  Wouldn't be able to sleep at night.

So I said I would help him out and act as escrow for someone that wanted to buy it for fair market value.  I can verify it looked like a real one (I have 3x 2011 similar ones) and the guy really looks like a poker player that wants some USD to play some WSOP.  That is one man's read.  I decided to help him as I believe him to be genuine.  here are the pix of his coin:

https://twitter.com/BryanMicon/status/479416973353156608

I can act as escrow if someone wanted to send me the btc if a price could be agreed upon, then I can mail you the coin certified / return reciept / fedex / UPS / DHL / whatever method you prefer and want to pay for.

Dream result is someone randomly in Las Vegas with cash and meets us both at the Rio to do the deal.  but if someone outside that small bubble wants to fire on that, I'll show him where the 2-way Robocoin bitcoin ATM is downtown and "teach a man to fish" so to speak.

glglglglggl

just start bidding / this guy wants cash ASAP.

It would seem that this 2011 S1 brass Casascius 1BTC coin was funded on 7/26/2012...? Very odd late funding for an S1 Holo...

Does seller have any idea on the history of this coin?  Realizing that you are just trying to help a brother quickly convert an asset, it still might assist seller, buyer and price to have a bit of back story here if possible...

This sounds fishy to me. I remember buying some 2011 series 1 and series 2 coins in late 2011. How is this possible that a series 1 was sold so late? I'm out until this can be cleared up.

Seller is meeting a poker friend of mine now to see if he can quickly get cash in vegas for it.

he says if the deal doesn't go down he will post higher quality pix and respond to the questions in this thread.

Let me see if he can quickly send me a better pic of the front, and based on the research of the hologram info on the back, without knowing *too much* about these I remember buying 5 (have 3 left, gave away 2 that day Smiley from Mike in person I think January 2012 and they were of course 2011 1 btc coins that look very similar to the one the dude is trying to sell now.

Maybe I shouldn't have used mine as a card protector in 2012 WSOP Smiley

also I think I bought 5x of them for a $20 bill b/c BTC price was like $3 at the time

lololololololol why didn't I fire a full hundo?

there is good way to verify here that the 1 btc is in fact unspent if that is in fact a real coin with that serial number and not a brilliant copy?

edit:  (rephrase)  does this link in fact verify the 1 btc is still "in the coin" i.e. private key contained within the un-peeled holographic coating never used in human history?

The fund date does not really matter with these coins imo.  All I care about is the grades they get!

1)  new better pic sent by the seller:

https://twitter.com/BryanMicon/status/479441834611978240/photo/1

2) guy at rio did not want to buy it or didn't know what he is buying.  Offers / bids still being accepted / seller may or may not have an un-newbie'd bitcointalk account so he may be texting me / I post here.
