So I'm trying to play some games and mine at the same time on my 7970, currently using -v 1 -w 256 -f 60 But my main issue is that its causing a huge drop in mining speed. (a much larger drop than what I used to see on my 6850. Does anyone know how to fix this?

EDIT:fixed it. (won't let me just delete post...)

I encountered the exact same issue with the same cards, how did you fix it? I was under the impression the 7970 distributes its power over graphics-demanding applications, the more opened while mining, the lesser the hash rate; on the other hand my 6850 just ran choppy graphic programs without losing much hash rate.

this, -v 1 -w 256 -f 60, is what I'm using and it has caused me no issues so far. I have one profile I use for when I'm gaming and one for when I am afk (just removed the -f 60 at the end).

Excellent, thanks!
FYI, on my rig, changing -w 256 to 128 made no difference in my hashrate.
I'll try the -f 60 and see if that helps the lag a bit.

I can play some games and it works perfect while mining, but I've found that games like BIT.TRIP.RUNNER cause the rig to hang completely if you were mining on ANY card. I experienced that with 11.6, not sure if they fixed it in 12.1.
