Yeah, as soon as I got that PM I thought to myself "How many idiots are going to fall for this?"

I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of this sort of thing in the future.
omg many, tons of guys will fall for this trick.

as CFA said:

U would be surprised how many people download this shit bathing in excitement

Be aware that more users than the stated " vienisu" are sending these messages.

Yesterday I received it from a different user, which was "brand new" also. I deleted the message so I dont exactly remember his name anymore. It was something like "giengaru". I can't find him anymore (hopely banned).

I don't trust much people on the internet, and I think that's what saved me yesterday Wink. I don't even open such links. I've had such PM's earlier, someone who wanted me to check whether his miner wasn't working. He was sending me some "screenshots". When I opened the URL on an old mobile Phone it appears that it was a .zip file with some .exe programs in it..  Fail xD.

Yes, I got that PM and tought the same. I am using Linux tough so first I could not try the game, and second if I had tried I would be safe. Good that you warn other users for that tough, I admire that. And one tip from me: use Linux, Windows sucks  Cheesy

Hear hear to that! Good ol *nix laughing all the way for the win.

Does anyone know of any virus or trojan that can actually affect a Linux box? I can't say I have heard of any but surely there must be something?

Better to avoid any game-for-BTC thing unless it is coming from a trusted dev. team.

or in WORST CASE, you may try it using a virtual machine OS.

I personally never heard of Linux-Trojan before, but maybe other guys can provide us with more info. in case I'm wrong.

Linux is wonderful, but don't think you're immune just because you use it.

If you had tried it you may not have been safe. If it were an .exe file you'd have had to run it in wine, which is capable of running some windows viruses.

Also, as billotronic points out, there are cross platform malwares out there in the wild too. Common sense must still be applied.

Linux is immune to malware not because there is no existing malware for Linux and because it can not be written, but due to its system architecture, allowing only root user with root pass to do global tasks on the system. If you execute the exe with wine, but not as sudo user, you are safe. Second, even if run with sudo, it will just affect your wine instalation, not the whole system, as it is running within it Also the only one way to get virus on Linux system is to install it yourself and give your root pass while installing it. As Linux is open source and all source for linux is open sourced, apart from the packs, coming from repos, if you always look at what you do install and use only your official repos, there is just no way to get any malware. On Linux nothing "just happens" without the root official permission. I am actualy enjoying when I see a Chrome alert for a malware site to to back and dont open it to actually open it and see it, exactly because I know nothing can happen.
