Hi All,

I have seen many address include their brand name.
Can you choose wallet address for blockchain?
Or can we change it?

wallet MUST be on local tool ... and NEVER hosted by an other (and unknown) party (on internet).

Hi All,

If you want to change the address you have on blockchain.info you need to import a specific private key. There is a tool called vanitygen, as has been suggested, that can generate the private key to a specific address. Keep in mind however that this might take a while. 1blasomething is easy 1IwantThisAddresssomething will most likely not be found while you are alive.

Im not really here, its just your imagination.

You could do it, but the more characters you want, the more expensive it is.

For 6 characters, it is about 8 days to have 50% chance to find one address who matched (depends on your computer...)

Code:
D:\tools\vanitygen-0.22-win>vanitygen.exe 1madmat
Difficulty: 888446610538
[497.47 Kkey/s][total 359895809722][Prob 33.3%][50% in 3.2d]

yip do this then just import into bitcoin-qt (if that is your client.. and if so instructons below apply)

click debug, open console

if your wallet is password protected WHICH IT SHOULD BE do step #1

#1
walletpassphrase    <passphrase> <timeout>

e.g

walletpassphrase mypassword 60

#step 2
importprivkey <bitcoinprivkey> [label] [rescan=true]

e.g

importprivkey fjffjsfjfsjsfjfsfefjss myvanityaddress

#step 1 explanation
You need to unlock your wallet first so you can import the priv key, it will unlck for 60 seconds in my example, so you hve 60 seconds to enter in step #2 (regardless of how long the rescan takes as I mention below... after 60 seconds it will lock again)

#step 2 explan
the label is just the label you see in the recieved address section.
you can do rescan=false if you do not want want to rescan entrie blockchain for transactions. if its a brand new address, you might as well do rescan=false... by default it will do a rescan=true which can take a good 10-20 mins depending on your system.

RPC list is here... it might be outdated as it is a bit old now.. but still works a treat
You can verify the commands here yourself to make sure i'm not saying anything dodgy Smiley

I didn't know this service. Very quick and paper wallet is beautiful.

However, for a 6 letters case sensitive, i would have to pay, so i prefer to wait for my computer.

In blockchain wallet, you have to go in "Import/Export" tab, and then enter the private key in "Import private key" field.

Very easy.

They generate and send you the private/public key.

How do you know if they do not keep a copy of your private key?
You don't!!!

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!!

But but but they offer a refund!

Quote
Security
Security is our top priority. After address generation is complete we send it to you with chosen delivery method.
Our automatic process delete every trace of generation.
Because of that, after we send it to you, we can't recover it.
However we could offer refund in this case and generate another vanity address of same phrase.

Wow -- if that's not a red flag, I don't know what is. It's as if they didn't even stop to think about how they'd convince people to fall into a scam.

never EVER use sites like these. I used one, and the site was compromised and every address that I had made on there was wiped and the funds were sent to the hacker. These sites do hold the private keys, and if it gets hacked or the owner decides to take them away, you will lose. Generate them yourself
