I know what you mean, I get an awkward feeling whenever I write "bitcoin space," but I can never think of a better word to use in its place.  It sort of makes sense though--we use it when we're trying to describe the space around bitcoin where things are happening.  If you have a better idea, please share.

Not really an alternative, is there? I don't think they're really buzzwords - just words to describe businesses confined to the Bitcoin bubble. Well - I guess you could use "bubble," but that's almost guaranteed to get misinterpreted. Cheesy

the ecosystem, community, bitcoin space.. are not buzz words..

but the one i do hear alot that annoys me and makes me think this is a kids playground is:

"HODL"

and other terms that are not in the dictionary and the very sound of them makes you think a teenage, zit faced little guy made it up, rather than someone with age, wisdom and a good grasp of the english language beyond the age of 14.

It seems like I keep hearing/reading the same Bitcoin-related buzz words popping up.

Most notably the words "ecosystem" and "space".

Not sure why, but buzz words just seem to make people sound drone like.

Or maybe I'm just a cynical asshole?

What else would you wanna replace those with?

How about the "DCZ"?   Short for the "Decentralized Zone".

but bitcoin is an ecosystem..

in the sense that its not just money, its a community, people can survive on bitcoins (rent, food, clothing, tech). i dont mind the use of words that help explain something without a paragraph of waffle..

but buzzwords that have no dictionary meaning and never used in any other conversation apart from in teenage bitcoiners geek speak.. now thats annoying.

EG im fine when people say bull and bear market, as its self explanatory, and used outside of the bitcoin ecosystem as much as its used inside the bitcoin ecosystem.
but rize chikun, HODL and other teenage invented words... thats what makes outsiders think weirdly about how bitcoiners act.

Not sure, hence the thread.

Any thoughts?
I don't have any, but I like buzz words Smiley

"To The Moon" and "Hodl" are probably the most overused that I have seen...

I guess "To the Moon"  is more of a phrase than a word...

One of the points that's being made is that ""ecosystem" and "space"" are not bitcoin buzz words.

Example: search the term "real estate ecosystem"

Don't know what " rize chikun" means 'cause I'm old

That was basically what everone said in the chat box over at Btc-e. I haven't been that in a bit, there are probably a bunch of people still saying that

Yes, I do hate those, but "space" and "ecosystem" is not that bad, at least they made sense.
