in terms of scale, lots of things. i think there is a company that accepts BTC for rent.... but the vast majority of people can't. can't pay bills (CCs etc)

The market cap of Bitcoin is about $7.85 billion dollars, and it is increasing every day.

Now, then again, it all depends on the fluctuations of the market, but it is nicely summed up as being at about $8 billion.

If the price went up to $1000/coin, then the cap would go up to $12-billion (About) and if the price dropped, so would the market cap.

Now that market cap also uses all the coins in the world, so it's not 100% accurate. It just calculates the coins mined multiplied by the value, or

n=# of coins
v=value
c=market cap

n*v=ct
(t= In a very simplified version)

So even coins that were lost or destroyed still have "value", even though they don't technically exist anymore.

I know that steam is not allowing bitcoin payments yet. Perhaps the steam community needs to vote to show the Steam team that they want to add this feature.

You can't pay off bills, like credit card bills and things like that. I think it has to do with tax issues, at least for the US. There was a "bill pay" service for bicoin (can't remember the site), but they could only do fulfillment-type bills (ordering stuff from vendors).

http://www.dailydot.com/business/british-escort-service-accepting-bitcoins/

It's been done. Still, like many things that can be bought with bitcoin, this is still very small scale. I don't think you see this too often.... but British bitcoiners got options haha.
