darkota deleted my comment below about LTC, which reassures me that my comments were valid and the thread is FUD

He's made troll threads about me and other coins, and then deleted my comments right away.

It's one thing to use the moderation option to eliminate actual trolls, it's another thing when a troll is actively using it themselves to silence everyone.

Report such abuse to the mods on bitcointalk....There are a few trolls that are contributing nothing in terms of helping in the alt coin section but to spread fear, uncertainty, and doubt. So far within the last week I have seen the following from trolls

Coins that are dead/dying

LTC
NEM
NXT
Doge

While you may not like some of these coins, this type of behavior shouldn't be tolerated by the community and the moderators of these forums should be known. I even went a step further and asked if sockpuppet accounts are allowed and the response was not only are they allowed, but encouraged by the admins here (which is fine for their reasoning, but with the recent trolling abuse it shouldnt be).

I tried my best to research and see if this was originating from another website.  It seems strange that people are going extremely hard on many alternates at the moment, especially LTC which orthodox Bitcointalk largely refrains talking about.  LTC was pretty much the Great Uncle of the family, the old guy's been there for awhile and nobody talks bad about him (yet a lot of negative stuff come out of nowhere and I am struggling to understand why).

There is allegation of Moscow hiring shills to spam discussion boards and news media outlets.  It makes me wonder if some investment firm or something is purposely going around spreading FUD and hype to effect prices.

I largely assume these guys are from a quote of Alfred (some people just want to watch the world burn) or from other coins. I did not think about what you mentioned but it is always possible considering the NSA apparently uses the same tactics.

As far as LTC, I am fairly involved with the community and can tell you first hand that there will always be haters for other coins for whatever reason. The unfortunate part is that previously these people screamed the loudest (which has changed recently). But like you said, the amount of "alt hating posts" seemed to have increased.

It may also just be that crypto currencies are in a recession and the community could be cannibalizing itself, people taking their frustrations out on alternates, et al.  Bitcoin hasn't gone anywhere in a very long time.

Since January all I have seen has been 'pump of the month' (some get rich off this but it largely results in many angry and bitter bagholders).  NxT and LTC is the only exception as far as I can see.

I do agree, there are a lot of quick rich schemes that are happening in the crypto world. But not all of them are really get rich quick and people fail to realize this. Again Dogecoin for example has one of the closest communities ever, this in and of itself should be a large boon to all cryptos because they are considered the "gateway drug" for crypto's.

I also think some of them have good intentions, but poorly executed. The problem is trying to figure out which ones are the quick rich ones and which ones are bad, which is hard to do. Trolls certainly do not help at all with this.

If you're trying to sell your latest 'get-rich-quick' coin and claim that it's going to be 'the next LTC' (easier to convince people than claiming it's 'the next BTC') then you have to combine that with attacks on the current LTC to try and make your case. My 2 cents..
