To get a NXT numeric ID:

First you'll need to create a NXT account.
http://nxt.org/client-download/

Then click on the ID at the top and then on "Copy Numeric Account ID". This number is what you'll be using when registering for a stake.

So I created an online wallet at https://wallet.mynxt.info

Where can I find my Numeric Account ID?

I only seem to have a bunch of numbers where it says 'your NXT address'  Huh

Looks interesting.

I think the best way to avoid sockpuppets is to have an even more stringent requirement in regard to posts. I mean, if someone has been here at least a couple of months, they should probably have around several hundred posts if they have been active here. That way you not only get around the puppet issue, but those getting the coin may be less likely to dump seeing as they didn't simply make an account to get freebies. These 20-40 post requirements some freebie coins use as a requirement is absolutely nothing really.

Alternatively go with tiered amounts given out based on number of posts + member status, or something like that. In the long run it may be better, as again it should lead to less dumping.

Good post.

Here's the reasoning:
If the post count/account date rules were the only thing hindering sockpuppets I'd fully agree.
However we're going for a big mix of different variables rather than say just 100 posts or activity on BTT. This is both to even out things so not only veterans around here can get in but also to make the filtering proccess more obscure and thus difficult to get around for those aiming to cheat.

Other checks should help get around the puppet issue, and requiring a NXT account and doing IP checks should stop many of them. I'm just thinking of those who, for lack of a better word, are sort of evil here... there is a greater proportion of hackers + those with pc knowledge than other places, so obtaining multiple IPs, multiple NXT accts, probably won't be the most difficult thing for them. If you have other checks which you haven't made public (which would be wise), maybe it'll stop those too.

And yeah, if you make the post requirement too high, it may be harder for new people to get coin, so I get that. A middle ground may be best, in my opinion ... something like 50-100 posts, or more coin for those with 100+ posts, etc. Again, besides hindering sockpuppets, ideally distribution would hinder dumpers as well. Too many freebie coins get dumped to smithereens almost immediately. The coins that actually handled that best so far probably was com and itc (at least they lasted long enough to hit the big exchanges)... com's distribution was iffy, but itc did the tiered post thing.

Yeah, won't reveal too much about this of course but we're feeling confident.  Cool
Time for me to go to bed, Kora will likely be first to check back on this topic tomorow and answer any more questions/comments before the grand opening.

How sure my NXT ID appears in the blockchain explorer (http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi)?

I created and searched it on blockchain but "Nothing found". Must I buy some Nxts?

Try to submit your ID here:
http://nxtra.org/faucet/

The site currently says this.

Node is out of sync, no requests can be made at this time. Please try again later.

Is there another faucet?

Please make sure your NXT ID appears in the blockchain explorer (http://87.230.14.1/nxt/nxt.cgi). Those not found to be valid will be manually contacted over email or PM and asked to send back a valid information. There will be some kind of deadline for this.

so we must to buy a few NXT to do transactions! as faucet is not working!
