Help! - I am setting up a Bitcoin Mining Pool for fun?

I want to setup a small Bitcoin mining pool, primarily as a learning process and partly to use as an educational tool. I am planning to accept Bitcoin payments at my retail outlet in the near future and I want to understand every part of the Bitcoin model.

Initially the pool will be used solely by me to test new equipment, and then as a demonstration system for people who express an interest in mining, and as an educational project for students at our local school.

I have a centos hosted server with some spare capacity and from reading what I can on the internet I see there is software called MPOS available to get the core functionality in place.

Unfortunately my Linux skills are somewhat lacking and I am looking for someone with the relevant skills to get this up and running, my budget is limited but from reading the MPOS install guide it seems simple enough for someone with the right skills. If you can help please let me know with an idea of what you would charge. I did post this job on freelancers.co.uk but all I got was scammed, so I will only release payment in return for work done.

I may be totally on the wrong path and if so please let me know what the right path is for setting up a mining pool.

I do already understand that setting up a commercial mining pool is a huge task fraught with all sorts of problems, however this is not a commercial pool it is purely for testing and demonstration.

I have managed to get bitcoind setup and MPOS is talking to it but I am struggling with the stratum proxy. I am using github/slush0/stratum-mining-proxy and it is installed but gives an error when it is run.

My server is running Centos 6 x64.

The error message is:

ImportError: Twisted requires zope.interface 3.6.0 or later.

Python is 2.6, I have tried running python and entering the command “import zope.interface” and it completes correctly. I have tried placing __init__.py into the site-packages/zope directory but still I get the same error.

Can anyone help me as its driving me mad. Thanks.

I think it would have been better to just use a service like ours where we give you a maintained vps with 1 coin pool hosted for 20 usd.
We are launching our pool mining hosting service in the next few days and you should be able to setup pools in a matter of hours with our state of the line servers based in the U.K.
