Official blog release here: http://just-dice.blogspot.ca/2014/06/betting-and-depositing-disabled-on-jd.html

It is uncertain if they will be resuming betting at this time. I hope they do though.
Dooglus and Deb run a great site and I will be sad if they close shop.

I know i'll be sad as well if they have to close.  But I'm sure once they get everything figure out regarding jurisdiction, everything will be back online.

Wow this is pretty big news.....

I wonder what they have planned for the future here?  They didn't say too much about investments but I am assuming they are allowing people to withdraw from those ?

Hope this isn't a first of many to come....

Of course, withdrawals are being processed as normal. doog is moving coins from cold storage and into the hot wallet, which is getting depleted just as quick!

Sad to hear, I just divested and withdrawn everything I had on JD as advised:

Quote
We recommend that you withdraw your coins from both sites and keep them safely in storage until such a time as we are once again open for business.

Hope JD will be back soon!

Bummer deal.  I wonder how many of these types of sites are going to be getting shutdown between now and the end of the year as well.  Doesn't bode well for gambling sites it appears.

Good times are gone, you will be able to make it legal for few months but then laws will change again. Anyways those gambling sites aren't helping to comunity, so they better shut them down all or request taxes from investors, from players and others.

Sad to see this; been with JD since day one... Hopefully they can work something out.  If not, I'd be interested to see where the users of JD will migrate to... Primedice?

Well I'm sad to see them go (even if it is temporary), hopefully they'll find a way to reopen. Just-dice was a pretty good place to invest, small reliable gains. That being said even if they do reopen much of the market might have shifted to other dice site operators (in all probability Primedice).

Probably not, at least in near future.

Have received many PM's & emails regarding whether PrimeDice will take investments now that JD is down. Our answer still remains no as we see no need to split profits through a shared bank roll as ours is more than sufficient.

What I'm concerned about however is ex-JD investors trying to invest in other dice sites which will surely be popping up over the next few days in an attempt to take the missing market share. PLEASE DO SO WITH EXTREME CAUTION! Do not trust people unless that trust is well and truly deserved. Despite me saying this people are still going to invest in these new sites & lose their money. Stay safe people.

Sorry to see just-dice go. Regulation is killing bitcoin. Have not read the new laws yet, will do soon. Let's see if it is a matter of tax or licence...

Regulation can't kill gambling. These kind of websites will just move off-shore. Things happen really quick in bitcoin world.

I would like to make a betting site of my own to allow investments like J-D, but i wouldn't know how to code it.

Anyone else who wants to make a J-D similar site? There's probably a lot of investors (and gamblers) who would like to join the replacement.

It seems it is about license and stuff like AML.

http://cointelegraph.com/news/111905/canada-signs-first-ever-official-law-regulating-bitcoin
Quote
“The five most important aspects of Bill C-31 as they relate to Bitcoin are as follows:
 1. Regulates Bitcoin as MSB – Bitcoin dealing, more specifically referred to as “dealing in virtual currencies” in Bill C-31, will be subject to the record keeping, verification procedures, suspicious transaction reporting and registration requirements under the PCMLTFA as a money services business.
 2. Does not define “dealing in virtual currencies” - The phrase “dealing in virtual currencies” was left undefined and it is not known what the defined term will encompass in terms of business activities once defined by regulation.
 3. Registration with FINTRAC - Bitcoin dealers will be required to register with FINTRAC and if successfully registered, to implement a complete anti-money laundering compliance regime.
 4. Captures foreign Bitcoin companies targeting Canada – Bill C-31 is more sweeping than other Canadian laws because it extends to: (a) companies that have a place of business in Canada; and (b) companies that have a place of business outside Canada but who direct services at persons or entities in Canada. Coinbase, for example, will have to register with FINTRAC to continue to provide Bitcoin services in Canada. Having a place of business means physically located in Canada, or having an R&R in Canada. Bitcoin businesses in Canada, however, that provide services to persons or entities outside of Canada are exempt from Bill C-31 for those external services.
 5. Prohibits banks from opening accounts for Bitcoin entities if unregistered - Under Bill C-31, banks will be prohibited from opening and maintaining correspondent banking relationships with Bitcoin dealers that are not registered with FINTRAC. This is an extremely important aspect of Bill C-31 and Bitcoin businesses should ensure they understand what a correspondent banking relationship is and how it can affect the provisions of banking services to them internationally.”
