Campbx delayed all their API calls so much that they were unusable. Did they cut that nonsense out?

Hi Deego3,
Thank you very much for your kind words: we had a planned maintenance today to upgrade CampBX server. The upgrade took a few hours more than expected, but happy to report that everything went smoothly and we are back online as of 5:30 PM EST.
@jwzguy: Give us a try now! Our new server has much more headroom, so we have reduced the API throttling significantly. If you have any issues or suggestions, just let us know: we are always eager to help our customers and make CampBX better in the process.

hmmm..my money has been tied up at CampBX for the last week cause they can't figure out how to withdraw to dwolla.
I can't really say CampBX really impresses me.
My votes for unsung exchanges would be Bitcoin Central and BTCex.

CA, We have fix going in tonight for the Dwolla issue. Dwolla has twitchy fingers when it comes to making unannounced changes to their code, and this time unfortunately their change broke our code. The timing of this was also difficult, as it came just before our major server upgrade. Apologies for the delay, Keyur |

Since we're on the topic of unsung exchanges, I'd like to say
a few good words about bitcoin-central.net : I've used
them often in the last couple of months, and in particular, their
SEPA euro intake is essentially painless (so far).
Also, IIRC, the code of the exchange is OpenSource, which is
likely going to be a liability in the short term, but will be a
strength in the longer term.
Found it a bit dodgy that they host their own binaries and are a few revisions behind. Looks like an unsafe policy. |

By "their own binaries", do you mean that the checksum of the binary is different from the ones on bitcoin.org ? If the checksums are the same, not sure why that'd be dodgy. They host them, they don't even host the checksums. Promotes insecure behaviour. I assume they're legit, I haven't downloaded from them. But this practice is NOT safe for a piece of software like this. |

You don't seem to understand that security practices are just that: practices. You don't have to wear a helmet on your bike: just don't crash. You don't need SSL, just encrypt on both ends. And so on.
Putting outdated binaries for direct download in a third party site is not what I'd call good security practices. Actually, for a piece of software like this SSL should be enforced to prevent DNS spoofing. People can get scammed in many ways, you just don't make it easier for them to get burnt. It's not good for anybody.

In their defende I must say that they only host binaries there because Sourceforge.net blocks the download of any software that uses cryptography to countries which have sanctions from the USA and they only started hosting the binaries because of a thread I started here on the forum complainting about that. I'm sorry you think that some people shouldn't be allowed to download Bitcoin just because the US doesn't want them. I agree that they should at least keep them updated  |
