Is it normal that Bitcoin Core wallet takes hours to verify blocks and start?

Bitcoin Core, there's your problem
download MultiBit, it's much faster

Multibit doesn't allow you to run a full node, it lacks of those tools that developers needs and also can be useful for a normal user. But if you are just going to send and receive btc, then light client wallets are he best. I have heard multibit have some issues though.

I just start up the client once a week an after 15 or so minutes its up to date.
It is a little annoying but as long as its not to many weeks out its not tooooooo bad.

Might look into some of the light wallets or whatever they are caled.. like Electrum.

This is one of the reasons why I just don't like running a full node (sorry guys ). Love me some Electrum. I just don't really want to have to worry about the blockchain...
