If it has been abandoned for five years, I would probably first make sure that people weren't already squatting there. That can lead to all kinds of trouble. But sure, as long as it isn't violating all kinds of safety codes, I'd let him crash there for as long as it takes for him to find a decent job. I'm kind of a believer in giving people a hand up when they need it, but I also believe that people need to be able to stand on their own two feet (or a foot and a prosthetic if that's what you got) within a reasonable amount of time.

Thank you, it means a lot to see some humanity still alive.

I`d probably just tell him, wtf have you been doing for 5 fuken years?
Then take him in my house and lay out the rules, just like he moved or ran away from home the last other 5 years.

I mean that the abandoned house he was sleeping at had been vacated for five years. Let's say your son was 20 and only recently became homeless.

And please explain your reasoning if you say no. Why would you not let your own child sleep at a house that isn't being used by anyone and hasn't been for quite some time?

How about their own child is a criminal and shouldn't be let anywhere near their property?

Not if he was a freeloading scammer like you,, because at some point he needs to grow up and realize everything isn't going to be handed to him by others who actually contribute to society.

By contributing, you do mean contributing to destroying our planet, correct?

There are many ways to contribute to a society that would fit perfectly with your worldview, but that would mean not being a freeloader so it's not surprising that you would choose to focus on the negative.
Besides, if you truly feel that way, then why would you be okay with benefiting from it? Such a hypocrite.
If you truly believed what you say, you would REFUSE to stay there, not whine when like an entitled brat when you can't. But conveniently enough for you, your principles only seem to matter when it benefits you.

Why let him sleep in an abandoned house without any love, care and rehabilitation from being homeless, when you can bring your son back into your life, your home, your attention until he can live for himself(get a job etc.) That's what I would do if I had a son, but I'm only 14.

Depends on many conditions:
How old is my son?
Does he have a drug problem?
Why doesn't he have a job?
Mental Illness? Physical illness?
Has he been given opportunities before and squandered them?
It's not always as black and white as the way you have it worded.

What I think is, as long as he agrees to basically take responsibility for the house as long as he's there (like maybe doing some fixer-upper things; like Commandrix hinted at, who knows what kind of shape it might be in after being abandoned after five years), it would be all right for him to sleep there. It's interesting to me how having to do work can cause people to shape up real fast. I don't have a son, but if I did, letting him sleep in a house nobody uses would be better than seeing him on the streets with everybody else who are either down on their luck or made some bad choices. My only suggestion is to get any agreement you make with your (I'm assuming) adult son down on paper, get his signature, and you'll have a leg to stand on if he burns the place down or otherwise refuses to keep up his end of the deal.

How about their own child is a criminal and shouldn't be let anywhere near their property? You would throw out your own kid just because he had a criminal record?
