I've ordered one, well preordered actually because in near 2 hours they've already sold out all the 10.000 raspberry of first batch: they've put on knees both RS and farnell web shops

Are these things designed such to be hooked up in series or parallel, thereby creating more computing power? And if that's the case, how long before we start seeing Raspberry Rigs or Raspberry Racks?

These things are being put out in the wild with no idea on how the end users are going to use them. Expect to see some things created with this thing, something the developer hadn't thought of. Imagine if the same thing happening with Bitcoin.

Somehow, I feel there's a missed opportunity here. We know damn well that there's going to be a wave of videos on YouTube with people showing off their hacks. Only if there was something that this thing could be used for that's Bitcoin related, then shown on YouTube.

Linking RPis together for more computing power doesn't sound feasible at all.

Raspberry Pi would work very well as a POS, not too sure about a Bitcoin node though, since the amount of RAM will be most likely a limitation. (Then again, my Bitcoin client currently uses about 56MB of memory...)

Build a cluster of raspberry is possible via network link, but the MHash/s delivered will be really low (I think about 0,5 - 1MHash/s per raspberry).

I'm thinking exactly the same thing regarding a POS, but there are also GuruPlugs and similar mini arm server that have more ram, more CPU power and a really small case plugged directly in a power socket

To be clear, I was no way inferring that a string of R^Pi (plural?--I'm experimenting!) be used to hash bitcoins. I was expressing a thought, imagining RPi owners building a rig for some other intended use, what, I'm not sure, but the images may rival in scope most Bitcoin mining rigs, consuming less power and needing less cooling. Perhaps, gamers creating a game(s) that require an RPiBox built. To wit, building the unit is the main prerequisite to playing the game(s).

So, what do you think will be faster, an AMD X6 PC, or 10 RPi's as a network cluster? Both would cost about the same to build

That's actually the RPi in the video, the tiny board in front of the TV. It's got a good enough gpu to take advantage of hardware acceleration in XBMC so it can play videos fine. Gonna wait for reviews though, skins and displaying a lot of movies can be taxing on a cpu, annoying when it's stuttering while trying to scroll through a large list of movies. My revo does it sometimes, and its a dual core 1.6 GHz.
