It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

If the rig box is delivered, works at the stated specs, and lasts at least 18 months it blows away any other rig, GPU, or other FPGA (even BFL own single) by a significant margin.

So it comes down to do you think it will be delivered in the near future, at the stated specs, and last at least 18 months?

As someone who is also looking into the rig box i am going to wait till their are a few out in the wild. Not to sound pessimistic or anything but the Rig Box just sounds too good to be true so i personally would like some more reassurance before dropping 30k on a single device, but thats just my opinion.

Rig Box either way im gt spend 30k
Invest 30k into some companies on GLBSE and then once the rig box is closer, you can sell some shares and buy one.  This way you can help out the economy while you wait.

GLBSE?  There are bitcoin companies you can invest 30K into?

There are also Nigerian princesses you can invest 5k into Wink

Anyone that messes with BFL or GLBSE should be very careful, IMHO.

You can get burned easily.

How has either BFL or GLBSE burned people?  BFL has been slow, but they haven't burned anyone.  The only thing I've seen on GLBSE is the fake asset and you would have to have not read anything in order to put money there.  If you have any meaningful amount of money, you should obviously be researching before investing.

Honest enough advice.

Would you mind me being a grammar nazi for a moment and requesting you change that "can" to a "could"? Those are both touchy subjects around these parts and a simple tense reversal can cause a flamewar. ^_^

Keep in mind that when the first single arrived it's specs were vastly different than advertised (20w vs 85w).

You also have to figure the opportunity cost of the 30k you are setting aside for 6 months? while the difficulty increases.
