I bought a Corsair AX850 power supply last week. My Tagan Easycon 530W had worked for 6 years and still working.

I bet that Corsair is a beast. 80+ Gold is the way to go.
I started with an OCZ Z1000, runs 4 cards and 80+ Gold but not the most stable PSU.
Next I tried a Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1000W, runs 4 cards rock solid.
Tried to plug three cards into an OCZ Fatality 550, that didn't work LOL. Started making awful noises, I put it in my garage to test fuel injectors with.
Corsair GX750 runs 3 cards just fine, Thermaltake Black Widow 850 also runs 3 cards no prob, probably could run a 4th if I had a slot for it.
Have two cards on a cheap Rosewill 600W.
Haven't tried Seasonic, Raidmax, or Antec, I'd probably try one if I found a good deal.

Got myself a new Corsair AX1200 since I needed the extra juice to power the 5970s I bought once I got into mining.
Before that was a Corsair HX620W (no longer in their product lineup) which worked fine for the 3-4 years I had it. It's now in my friend's computer and has no issues still.
They've definitely won me over after giving me good customer service and overnight'ing me more modular cables free of charge.

Right now using a Corsair GS600 (I don't currently demand huge amounts of power, so no need to go at the very high end). I take it Corsairs have a good reputation? I had a cheaper (due mostly to greatly limited budget at the time) Dynex model before that which died after not much more than a year or so. Turns out the cooling fan had failed who-knows-how-long ago, unbeknownst to me, which probably led to overheating and the eventual failure.

I have started using the OCZ ZX Series 850W for 2 overclocked (940MHz) HD6970 in an ASUS Sabretooth motherboard with an i7-980 running at 4.3GHz doing Folding@Home at the same time the GPUs are mining. Pulls 660W from the wall socket while mining at 800Mhash/s and making 35K ppd F@H using 2 x SMP4. Oh and it runs BOINC on 2 more cores at the same time, leaving me 2 cores spare for whatever else I need to do. The OCZ PSU hardly puts out any heat at all compared to my old "Be Quiet" Dark Power Pro 850W. You gotta love these 80+Gold PSUs.

Did you guys learn some math in school? with typical video card draw of around 150-200W, CPU+mobo+ram+... using yet another 50+w - you definitely overload the PSU and risk to get burned hardware - you never know how exactly PSU circuits will fail (surely, they often have protection - but it's like an airbag in your car - better don't try it ) You should also consider the maximum load on 12V rails and their configuration - e.g. seasonic X-series have single 12V rail with insane amperage and 5V+3.3V get powered from it as well. Other ("classic architecture") PSU's may have several separate "real" 12V rails and "real" 5V&3.3V rails - caution should be taken when connecting your cards to them.

I'm using OCZ EliteXStream 1000w power supplies. They can handle 4 fully loaded Radeon 6870's and have watts to spare.

I have three Cougar GX-1050s. Two are in the garage running 4x 5870 on a 240v line. I have one upstairs in my main computer with a ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3, 2500k, 6870x2, 6870, and a 5870. I bought the two garage ones for the equivalent of $159.99 with through a combo deal where I used the other parts to assemble my upstairs computer. I think Cougar has done a great job with them and I plan on picking up a 4th soon if Newegg will run a deal on them, and if not a CMX-1000. I have started using the OCZ ZX Series 850W for 2 overclocked (940MHz) HD6970 in an ASUS Sabretooth motherboard with an i7-980 running at 4.3GHz doing Folding@Home at the same time the GPUs are mining. Those are actually on shell shocker right now. $99.99 After a $30 MIR.
