I used to have Conky for Linux: and at the time it was the best thing to make your computer desktop look cool. Looks so basic now, doesn't it? Those rainmeter desktops look awesome, I used rainmeter in the past as well, nowhere near as good as it is today.

what is this is it some kind of a game or a windows? or theme.. well by they way the graphics are awesome.. It's either a shell replacement or a desktop overlay. They both do basically the same thing. A shell replacement would overwrite or replace system files to make the desktop customisable, whereas a desktop overlay just covers up the desktop with something else and is less permanent. I think Rainmeter is the latter of the two. Years ago when I used HoverDesk (an older desktop overlay that seems to have vanished from the web), my desktop looked like this: Think that's from 2004, so about a decade ago now. Just before everyone stopped using Internet Explorer and hardly anyone had widescreen monitors, heh.

i think that rainmeter is awesome cause you can do everything, but not everything to your desktop well, i have try it but i cant understand how to edit the menu itself cause i cant code it Its rly not hard to understand , you just have to read the instructions in the notepad if any , if not just google it , usually they do explain on the download page how to customize it , You can also read the instructions on the rainmeter download page they have a manual with instructions for all http://docs.rainmeter.net/manual/getting-startedI`m new to rainmeter too , and i did not have time to do a very cool desktop but once i get a holyday i will post my desktop

Actually Windows 8 has some Rainmeter coding , for example the Metro Skin is exactly what Rainmeter is doing , i read on a forum that Windows 9 will use more Rainmeter functions , like makeing any fullscreen aplication run in a window etc.

For some reason, every time I try something new with my desktop, I end up having to switch it. Weird or new desktop configurations bug me.
If I can get past that though, it definitely looks amazing.

Good luck with that , but i feal that we must align ourselves with the future changes , i think this will be a common thing in the near future , on all devices , mby not as rainmeter , mby will be implemented as the default theme , i envy this guys that have such nice desktops , but i will find time to make myne awesome since from next week i have holiday.

I feel like Initscri, themes look awesome, but using them can be a pain. I like my old windows icons, they allow me to work fast. Exactly. I feel like I would be "stumbling" over the entire desktop for a while and my productivity would be low. It's that I'm not willing to align with new future changes (or technology); it is in this sense a benefit issue. The benefit of having a nice looking desktop may be outweighed by the fact that my productivity would be low due to this desktop and having to learn it. If I ever have a new computer that I won't be using for work, then by all means, I have no issue trying this out; but not on my primary machine. Posted from Bitcointa.lk - #UvAsvsUKtKfQofuM

Posted from Bitcointa.lk - #UvAsvsUKtKfQofuMI don`t understand how some people can say that it will lower productivity , or that they can use the normal icons better then this .... This is fully customizable = You can have any shortcuts you need , and make them look however you want , yes it will take some time maybe 1-2-3 days to get used to your new desktop , like all new things take time getting used to , but overall i think it will be better then the old one for many reasons. RSS feed , you can even have opened documents on ur desktop for working , like C++ , HTML , Notepads etc . Getting used to new Technology can have benefits , and learning / getting used to will take just a few days. This is just my personal opinion , don`t misunderstand http://www.plomonet.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/rainmeter-printscreen1.png
