there's an Australian exchange? Seems almost impossible to buy bitcoins from within Australia (no way without hefty $ transfer fees or markups).

Well apparently there is an australian broker/exchanger out there that is reliable and to date trustworthy. you deposit into his bank account (anz) i think and he transfers btc to the btc address you specify was just wondering if someone would know of it or anything else reliable/trustworthy for us aussies Wink

So far, I've been told to use https://ebuygold.com/index.php?act=buyec then https://btc-e.com/.

So buy liberty reserve, then transfer from liberty reserve to btc-e and buy btc there.

I have been using https://bitpiggy.heroku.com/ for small amounts and it has been fine.

Sometimes the website reports it is short of bitcoins to sell, but I keep checking back they become available.

It has some lead time as you wait for bank direct debits, but there is only a simple email validation, nice and simple.

I really wish there was a solid Australian exchange.  Freaking impossible to deposit into my ANZ account with Tradehill gone now.

If you're searching these lines for a point, you've probably missed it.  There was never anything there in the first place.

Isn't CryptoXChange in Australia? Come on people..

I think they want a reliable exchange who doesn't charge them $5-$15 for a fucking deposit. Probably one that also doesn't sell stolen coins Tongue

Eh? I thought Ken was 100% against selling stolen coins.

I'm not saying he's not against it. But didn't you read the thread about the stolen coins, where 2 persons had their MtGox accounts locked for depositing stolen coins that they had bought at came from Cryptoxchange? One of the persons had bought 7BTC, the other 27 BTC, but bought the coins there also and also Both got a locked account until they told MtGox where the coins came from.

Also, I didn't uderstand from where the coins were stolen from, but it was the same day(or the day after) of the Linode heist.

Yeah, the price of deposits at CryptoXchange is wayyyyy too much.  It would be ok if there was actually you, like, volume on CrypoXchange and I could move a large amount of BTC... but given the volume, I can only move a small amount of BTC and the deposit cost cuts into the deposit amount by a huge margin.

I'm an American but I'd recommend BitPiggy, simply because I met Mat at the San Antonio conference, we traded contact info, and he seems to really have a handle on things.

Still around.
