I would buy bitcoins now, if I wouldn't already be all in Tongue
Bitcoin might be risky investment but I would say altcoins have much bigger risk.

buy bitcoin is also risky investment . but if you want to earn 10000% on your investment you have to take this risk. Nobody knows what will happen in the future but you have to be positive and take risk in BTC . I like to invest with BTC.  Wink

This should be in speculation.

Buying bitcoins isn't more or less risky, whenever you decide to buy the risk is the same.

Iam buy btc in this year for sell on the next year.  Grin
But if the price reaches $ 800 I will immediately sell.  Cool
I do not want to invest in alt coin  because it is more dangerous than investing in bitcoin.  Cool

I think you will make big mistake if you sell at 800$
I will sell just small amount at 800$ because I believe it will go much higher.

I don't worry too much about its value, since I appreciate the currency part of it much more. Whether its value goes up or down, the currency part will always be there.

If we talking about big investments (100 000 $ for example)
Can i be sure that in a 5 or 10 years, btc will go up or stay same as today?

I'm not convinced 100% that bitcoin will succeed but 100% convinced that the US dollar will fail. Decide.

Like it was at the beginning of the bitcoin.

let me remind you in 2013 it was mostly below $100

in the later half of 2014 it will most likely be permanently above $1000
in 2015 it will probably pass the point of $10000 (either permanently or temporarily).

after that, it will depend a little. but i don't think it's unlikely to see even coins worth over a million before 2020

no, you can't be sure. if you could be sure, then bitcoin would already cost 1 million because all the world's money will be poured into it. the only reason they are not is because you can not be sure at all.

There is one thing you can be 100% sure about, though. It's that in 5 to 10 years the price would not "stay same as today". it would be either many times more or close to zero.

You can never be sure. specially on long term, but if you buy 100k USD btc, i am sure you will be able to sell more experience in next year time. 10% is her really fast.
5 years is long period, more then Bitcoin exist.

bitcoins are too risky now that its going to rally, so buy scamcoins that are just going to totally fail instead. solid advice haha

Any amount below 2000euros make sense to go in altcoins mainly - more than that I would go 80-90% Bitcoin and 10-20% to altcoins...

Diversification is pretty critical to any serious long-term strategy.

So is keeping some powder dry.

That is all.

Altcoins depend on the fate of Bitcoin (at this current juncture of time) suggesting to be in an altcoin over bitcoin is just doubling your risk.  Anyone who is suggesting this doesn't know what they are talking about.

Altcoins are an inevitable thing that will have to play themselves out to prove how they will fail.  Arguing with the people that think otherwise is pointless.

Buy some alts only to hedge against catastrophic but unlikely events on Bitcoin like a successful 51% attacks or some other security flaw not yet discovered. Other risks with Bitcoin like overregulation/ban or not enough interest from average Joe are risks shared with altcoins so no point in alts in that case. And most of the features alts can come up with could be integrated with Bitcoin anyway if enough people want it. And Bitcoin has a HUGE advantage being the first/biggest.
