When I told her about it she said: I don't get it but anyway what can you buy for it? I commissioned the awesomely talented guy at http://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5770.0 to do a piece for her, which she loved. She won't trust in the stuff until you can buy chocolate with it tho :-) http://bitmunchies.com contact them and ask for chocolate.

my GF recently discovered angry birds and has become obsessed so she thinks it's fine that I obsess over this.
She thinks I should sell some to get back my initial investment and let the rest roll, can't say that's a bad idea.

Not to be sexist or anything, but of all the people I have told about bitcoin only guys have thought it was cool. I might as well be talking about a FPS video game. Do we have any female traders here?

RodeoX: Well, AFAIK in the stock market there aren't that many female traders either. Men, on average, are more likely to take on risk.

My lady friend now interrupts most of my sentences to ask; "is this going to be about bitcoins?". The answer is usually yes. Maybe if we had a way to make bitcoin more generally compelling for a female audience we could grow even stronger.

I'm a woman..... I'm not a trader/speculator though if that was what you meant by trader. FPS games do suck though. They are just too scarey IMO.

I'm keeping hush until I've made a decent amount of money (to payoff small investment) so that I can say its at least worth it for some and not look like an idiot. Also about buying it for use on other stuff, lot of us travel often

My girlfriend is actually quite interested in it. She's not tech savvy at all either, but when I mentioned that it is "increasing in value", she wanted to learn more

I have installed the bitcoin client on my girlfriend's computer and sent her 0.02 BTC saying that she don't have to worry about her pension anymore.

Like every other new technology, we will know it has caught on for real when women start using it. cars, fast-food, disposable diapers, cellphones, computers, internet, bitcoins...

Need to convince some merchant who sells shoes to accept bitcoins, simple! Socks are not good enough!
Also, there need to be more jobs and tasks in Bitcoin. Not only programming and technical-related ones, so other people can feel useful too and earn the coins. I think that's very important, currently the focus is still too much on mining and other stuff that scares the shit out of non-technical (and non-finance) people. To put it differently: in my experience women *love* all kinds of weird point systems, coins and incentives. It just needs to be made clear how to earn them and how they can be spent.

Good luck with that women will never learn how money should be spent.

You greedy bastard. I would hate for me to get rich by buying BTC, but seeing all my friends not gain from it because of lack of knowledge. I'm spreading the word. If they're smart, they'll listen and buy.
Seriously, I think Bitcoin will reach $1000/BTC this year.
Ho Ho Ho! now heres a person I Want to talk to, I've been on the greedy side for awhile, and i never looked at it from the point of "if they're smart enough, They'll listen", Because thats about as true as it gets. You have sincerly changed my stance about "who should know" about bitcoins.

If you really think that, why are you not selling all of your possessions, getting cash advances on credit cards, and putting everything on the line for this and buying as many as you can? A lot of people say this, but don't put their money where their mouth is.

Believe me, I put plenty of money where my mouth is. I'm not selling everything because this is my belief, not blind faith. Suffice to say that I put a nice portion of my total investments into bitcoin ... and after the rally we've seen in the recent month, it's now a much larger portion of my investments
