Why don't the Native Americans have their own currency? http://www.dailypaul.com/135843/why-dont-the-native-americans-have-their-own-currency

Inspired by another thread currently available and opt to fork off of it. Not sure if it's been discussed before (sorry for not searching), but does this warrant a discussion?

They wouldn't like Bitcoin because it can't be reversed.

Disclaimer: I'm not racist, this is just a poorly thought out joke regarding an age old expression. I in fact believe the US owes very much to native Americans and the US has quite a lot to be ashamed of.

Not sure they need it.  Last I checked they were bragging about beating Whitey at his own game by opening casinos on their reservations.

You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike.

Yes, but not every Indian Nation. Some are small and struggling. Some haven't been recognized as a nation yet. With a little research, I'm sure we could even find a new nation that the denizens didn't know existed prior. All the tribe would need is a name.

They take good care of the land and after it’s perfect we steal destroy it.

Native Americans just more ethical than we are. They’re giving us a fighting chance to keep our currency. We Some psychotic idiots just killed them for their land no reason.

I'm a native. All you white wetback illegal immigrants need to stay out of our business. If we wanted a currency we would have a currency. At this point we're content to run you into the ground financially with our casinos you just can't seem to stay out of.

carry on.

I would think that there would be provisions in any treaty that would prevent this from happening, I'll do some research and see if there are any prohibitions regarding it.

Its very interesting, some reservations ( at least in canada ) control large amounts of lands with potential mineral development, not to mention lumber. Could a cabal of reservations join together to back their own currency with the natural resources as a backing?

Great find! How would one marry those natural resources with Bitcoin?

Hi, Lakota Nation really already has one, see these links :

http://freelakotabank.com/currency.php

Lakota Nation : http://www.lakotafreedom.com/

See this ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_v._Sioux_Nation_of_Indians

Maybe they will convert their currency to and from BTC, who can convince them?

http://freelakotabank.com/currency.php does link to http://www.opencurrency.com/directory/currencies/ which has been touched on briefly in this forum. Perhaps further discussion is warranted.
