As there are asic mining hardware setups, and hardware wallets, is it an option to produce plug and play storage for the blockchain ?
I don't see an option to choose where to store the blockchain in the core client as it stands - is this a likely development to encourage something like this to be possible ?

I am not sure I understand your question, but you can decide where to store the blockchain with

Code:
-datadir=<dir>

Im not really here, its just your imagination.
