So how come the pre-last-beta-release chain has 42354 blocks, and the beta one has like 892 or some such number?

Those are exactly the sort of things I like to try and avoid That's why I'm waiting patiently for a stable version of the wallet @quasimodo on a brighter note, your coins are probably fine, you'll just have to wait a bit.

It's the difference in chain length that worries me most...or maybe there just isn't a node online on the new version yet that has the whole blockchain?
Also interested to hear why it's so important we delete the old blockchain, out of curiosity.

They look just fine here (Fedora). Black on grey, both when the mouse is over and not. I'm using the latest from git, but it was fine before as well.
then it must have to do with some theme issue, but then i don't see it with any other qt app... as i've already said, not a big deal anyway... And I just noticed I get black on black on the list headers in coin control. No mouse hover fix there though. So there is definitely something weird going on. As you say, though, no big deal either. Not sure about the headers? It appears fine on windows/mac. As I said I'll try forcing the BGs on those as it sounds like a parenting issue. As for the coin-control list, yes I know about that one. It's supposed to be transparent with white text but its light grey with white text. When you click the little arrow to the left of the address it opens up and you can see the amounts fine. I'm kind of busy with other things but I'll see about fixing that right now. Should be easy. Famous last words "Should be easy". Well I'm glad I took the time to look at that because I managed to fix a bunch of bugs that were bothering me for awhile! Spent a lot more time on that than I should have though Transaction window fixed: Coin control window fixed: As well as a handful of other gfx bugs. Updated OP with stable wallet, New beta wallet with gfx fixes can be downloaded hereWill update OP with new stable wallet tomorrow. edit: sonofabitch! transaction headers seem to bold as soon as transaction window becomes active. it never ends

This is correct. the explorer hasn't updated yet So how come the pre-last-beta-release chain has 42354 blocks, and the beta one has like 892 or some such number?
Basically because I rolled back the transactions. It's the difference in chain length that worries me most...or maybe there just isn't a node online on the new version yet that has the whole blockchain?

I find your tone almost accusatory but we've already spoken about this, several times. It's important to delete the old blockchain so that you're not orphaned so to speak. As I've put security measures in place, if your client is broadcasting the old protocol it will be banned by the new protocol. In this regard it is posible to update the client version, but until you rebuild/rescan your blockchain you won't be able to play with the rest of us. All (or most, I'm sorry if I missed anyone) of the PMC community have been notified of the intended changes to the swap guidelines some time ago. Those transactions releasing 100% of swap funds have been rolled back. I already mentioned that I would be making these changes retroactively so that everyone would abide by the new guidelines. Switching back to the old wallet will not circumvent this I've been trying to take a moment to make a proper official announcement about it for over a day, but I'm getting distracted by a lot of other work. I also wanted to wait until I had the stable release to make it. So my apologies if this comes as a surprise. Please note, your swap coins are supposed to disappear when you update. We will be sending them out again over the next little while. Your wallet might also show some empty transactions. If these bother you, you can rescan it to get rid of them.

Same here. NO COINS Don't worry, your coins are permanently recorded in the PMC blockchain, there is no danger of losing track of them. I remember notifying you of the retroactive changes I intended to make, and you responding... Sorry for not announcing those changes guys. I assumed the only ones downloading the beta wallet would be quiz contestants. It barely occured to me that some of the quiz contestants would be PMC swappers Heres what I said on friday night (Blue'd the important part): Sorry guys, quiz rewards will have to wait, I'm up to my eyeballs right now. Pushed a new wallet version to github. Please do not use the new wallet without deleting your old blockchain (preferably deleting the entire roaming folder). Make sure to backup your wallet first.
I'll be posting the new compiled stable wallets tomorrow.
If you are compiling your own or using linux, again, deleting your blockchain before running the daemon is important.
I'll be posting an announcement about the major changes as soon as I have a moment to gather my thoughts.
In hindsight I shouldn't have posted the beta wallets yet but the quiz contestants were getting antcy about not getting their coins. I also didn't want to send them coins just to have to resend them in the next day or two There has been some major changes. Bear with me until I can post an announcement.

@TMX: I can't sync my v0.7.6.0 wallet (stable version). It has 3 connections, 999 blocks remaining, and stays there for over an hour already.

I really don't see how you find that comment accusatory, and I don't remember a message from you about restarting the blockchain, but I'm happy to suppose I missed that part. I'd appreciate it if you stopped assuming the worst about me though, I just switched back to see if the coins were still there, which without knowing that there was another blockchain reset coming up seems a reasonable course of action to me. No apologies needed, and thanks for the explanation.

I did say ' almost' accusatory Without letting the cat out of the bag, we spoke about the "intended" changes, that is the 'retroactive' adjustments and application of new swap guidelines. You also repeatedly posted about your issue 5 times. If there's an issue you can always contact me directly or check for me on IRC. making statements like: It's the difference in chain length that worries me most...
doesn't help in the anti-FUD department and can easily be taken as accusatory I've been logged into the IRC for the past week in case anyone needs to reach me for various reasons. Many users have contacted me this way. Got news on the swap guidelines, protocol changes and available services at launch. It just keeps piling up I don't know where to start

hahaha yea, I'm mining the empty blocks on a spare computer at work. Unfortunately that computer shut down. I set 1 core on it at home just in case that happens again. Network is running smoothly again. Empty blocks need to be mined until the giveaway when we can propogate the network via PoS.
