Taproot Is Coming: What It Is, and How It Will Benefit Bitcoin

P2SH

All bitcoins are essentially “locked up” in scripts: a couple lines of code embedded in a transaction included in the blockchain, that define how the coins can be spent in the next transaction. Spending conditions usually involve providing a signature to prove ownership of the coins. But other, well-known conditions for example include timelocks (coins can only be spent after a specific block height or date) or multisig (coins can only be spent if some number of private keys out of a set of private keys provide signatures).
MAST

MAST (Merkelized Abstract Syntax Tree) is a proposed solution that uses Merkle trees (a decades-old, compact data structure invented by cryptographer Ralph Merkle) to work around these two downsides. In short, all the different conditions under which the funds can be spent are individually hashed (as opposed to combined into a single hash) and included in a Merkle tree, which ultimately produces a single hash: the Merkle root. This Merkle root “locks up” the coins.
Schnorr

The Schnorr signature scheme has long been on the wishlist of many Bitcoin developers and is currently in development to be deployed as a soft fork protocol upgrade. Many cryptographers consider the Schnorr signature scheme to be the best in the field, as its mathematical properties offer a strong level of correctness, it doesn’t suffer from malleability and is relatively fast to verify.
Taproot

Taproot is based on an interesting realization: no matter how complex, almost any MAST-construction could (or should) include a condition that allows all participants to agree on the outcome and simply sign off on a settlement transaction together. In the earlier example, if Bob knows Alice can, by herself, claim all the funds next week, he might as well cooperate with her now to sign off together. (In many typical smart contract setups he would even be penalized if he doesn’t. The complexity really just serves to keep everyone honest.)

Hello to all

Virtacoin Trad is live : https://www.tradesatoshi.com/Exchange/?market=VTA_DOGE

Virtacoin Explorer is live : https://chainz.cryptoid.info/vta/

Virtacoin wallet is alive and active,

And most importantly,

Virtacoin Pool is live (http://www.virtacoinpool.org) and Its management is active,

I contacted Virtacoinpool Management via this email : theminingground@gmail.com

And they gave me these answers:

...
- Is VTA dead? No, we keep mining and have members of the community working on improvements during their free time.

- www.virtacoin.ooo is now the main site for VTA, according to the members of our community who maintain that site. We moved away from virtacoin.com a while ago.

- www.virtacoin.ooo is not a scam, it is part of the project and maintained by part of our community. For example, you can find the links to the github repo of wallet binaries there. Please only ever use these binaries for VTA wallets. Virtacoinpool.org is our public mining pool and is functional.

I hope this helps, happy New Year!
Best regards,
The Miningpool Team
...

You can also contact them if you have questions about Virtacoin,

I hope to launch Web Portal of Virtacoin and hear good news about Virtacoin soon.

Thanks all

City of Zermatt Switzerland Now Accepts Tax Payments in Bitcoin

Bitcoin Suisse to convert Bitcoin into Swiss francs
According to an announcement by Bitcoin Suisse, Zermatt started accepting Bitcoin as a means of payment for local taxes and transactions on Jan. 28, 2020.

By partnering with Bitcoin Suisse, the authorities of Zermatt are now able to convert taxpayers’ Bitcoin into Swiss francs through Bitcoin Suisse which then transfers the amount in fiat currency to the municipality’s bank account.
Taxpayers are able to pay online or via Bitcoin Suisse’s point-of-sale device
Specifically, local taxpayers will be able to pay their taxes in Bitcoin via a point-of-sale tool installed in the Zermatt town hall or an online payment portal. However, in order to pay taxes with Bitcoin online, the taxpayers will have to apply directly to the Zermatt Tax Office for a crypto payment solution, the announcement notes.

Whether you call it the “halving” or the “halvening,” one of the few things we can be sure of in crypto is that the conversation around bitcoin’s upcoming reduction in mining reward will intensify over the next six months.

Why? Because previous halvings have triggered bull runs. And who doesn’t like a bull run?

Many are convinced that the next halving will have the same market effect, and it’s not just a belief that history repeats itself – models have emerged to support this theory.

But if the bull run is expected, why hasn’t it already happened? Why isn’t the halving already priced in?

Because the halving is much more than an event – it is also a narrative, and an uncertain one at that.

What and why
First, a review of what the halving is and why it happens.

To keep inflation under control, the bitcoin protocol was programmed with a hard limit of 21 million, with new bitcoins entering the system as an incentive for network processors (“miners”) in a gradual and controlled rhythm. The rate at which they are created is reduced by half every four years, ostensibly to mimic the increased difficulty of gold mining. On Nov. 28, 2012, the initial reward of 50 new bitcoins was halved to 25, and since July 9, 2016, miners have been receiving 12.5 bitcoins for each block successfully processed.

The next reduction, after which the network incentives will be 6.25 bitcoins per block, is expected in May 2020

From bitcoin forum thanks.

40 Banks Apply To Offer Bitcoin and Ethereum Services

A recently passed law in Germany appears to have created a rush to market with a local paper stating 40 licensed banks have applied to offer crypto custody and services.

The Fifth European Money Laundering directive, which came into effect on the 1st of January, updates the law to include crypto services and in the process gives banks permission to treat bitcoin or ethereum as stocks or bonds and so offer likewise services.

Hello to all,

Less than a hundred days left to publish virtacoin and open the virtacoin site (www.virtacoin.online),

According to research by our experts team, the original price of virtacoin is about $ 1000,

So now is the only time to buy virtacoin to make a huge profit, So just buy virtacoin,

And never sell your virtacoin and cancel your virtacoin sales requests from site of (www.tradesatoshi.com),

You can try this out and refuse to sell your virtacoin for only 100 days, just 100 days, and cancel your virtacoin sales requests for only 100 days,

After this time, sell your virtacoin at a higher price if you like,

Those who think virtacoin is a scam please send us their own virtacoins.

Thanks for your attention
