Greed probably, used to be able to keep up with all the new coin releases but it has become impossible now.

Another motive could be to devalue other crypto-currencies, possibly even bitcoin. Wonder how many coins the NSA/GCHQ have made?  Grin

A lot of this coins are from the same persons and multipools.

Look, there are a lot miner, and they bought expensive hardware. With Bitcoin they won´t have apositive ROI anymore. So they create coins with a high reward and short mining times. Then they mine it like hell and dump them on the exchanges. And then they create the next one. Almost all of them are exactly the same.

If you go through the announcement section, you can ignore the starter of the topic, then you won´t see the threads anymore.
So if you see an OP with blockreward, etc and algorithms like scrypt, x13, etc etc then just ignore.

may be because from day to day bitcoins comes to media space and this process generates: new scammers(that creates eachone shitcoin); new peoples interested in currency's without expensive equipment (potential miners and customers); new ideas of cryptoalgo's and decentralized schemes.
Scammers are unavoidable evel;
interested people - unquenchable stream of resources
new ideas - chances for really alternative interesting coin.

I think communiti have to develop criteria of good/shit currency. Otherwise BTC  will remain a monopolist in this market. Decentralized, anonymous monopolist.

Without cleaning the noosphere "alt coins" like idea will fall.

So very true.

What gives these coins momentum are the miners who think they'll get a free lunch. I guess there is such thing after all...

Another motive could be to devalue other crypto-currencies

It's called the dilution attack, and started with doge.
