http://www.coindesk.com/koreans-have-thousands-new-online-bitcoin-opportunities-thanks-galaxia/South Koreans will be able to use bitcoin to pay on thousands of websites, after payments gateway giant Galaxia Communications announced it will add bitcoin as a payment option.
Galaxia is one of the top three companies processing online payments in Korea, with more than 10,000 domestic and international websites on its client list.
It is also one of the top mobile gift certificate and voucher sellers in Korea, which may now be purchased with bitcoin as well. well, once again the whales have managed to push price back down so the newsegg news 'never happened' like the apple news never happened etc. I am now assuming news like this won't help even though is very big It will take ebay, paypal, western union news for the big jump

I don't mind too much as it gives people like myself more time to accumulate. Good to see some infrastructure going up outside of the US though.

These are just words for now. No one knows what this will mean, how will it be implemented?, which companies will be adding btc payment options?, when?, etc. We at the Seoul bitcoin meet up will try to have a speaker from 1 or both Galaxia and Coinplug talk about these plans. There are very few bitcoin users in Korea now, the Korean forum Ddengle just past 7000 memebers. This is all good news, give it time.

watch James d'angelos video on price modeling, it is quite informative. Basically, high prices are all about displacing the big markets, gold, etc.
merchant adoption, while important, doesn't positively impact price in the short term, and can even drive it down when coins are cashed out...
speculative excitement can help price to some degree, there has been lots of good news lately and the price is up greatly from 2 months ago,...but don't forget, 3600 new coins get mined daily.

retail adoption, will be unlikely to cause any price jump as the real money is not in retail.
Eg APPL is about 1/20th the size of very large private/gov company. Which in itself is a fraction of the money market out there.

All that is good, however, we have to keep in mind too that it's not all about the price of BTC, it's about getting people to use it as it's supposed to be used - as a currency. A slight dip in the PRICE of BTC is worth the amount of merchants taking it as payment as it gives it more VALUE.

As more merchants come into bit coin we will be able to get a truer sense of value by measuring purchasing power of a specific amount of bitcoin.

People get excited. For me this is the time to accumulate as much as possible before the price explodes. Enjoy the calm and keep stockpiling. Yet few seem to actually realize this. It might happen tomorrow, it might happen next year you never know.

No way in hell. They are still forced to use interest explorer for the sake of security. They won't be doing anything high tech.

No. Not true. You can get by without IE. You can use a Mac even. This has been true for a few years. I've been dealing with this shit for a VERY long time (and you have no idea about just how much pain I have endured dealing with Korean banking over the years). Think back to the beginning of Internet banking in Korea... (I even did work for some of the early payment gateways there and got to see the tech side up close from an insider perspective.)

Back in 2002 or so, you had to use IE for Korean Internet banking. It just didn't work otherwise. But that was then. This is now. 10+ years is a long time to get things done. The ZDnet author there just doesn't know what he's talking about. He's just parroting some shit he read with zero experience. In fact, he's fucking lying and probably a piece of shit shill. Here's the proof (Korea Exchange Bank): http://imgur.com/hBg1sUfThe line that starts "MS IE(" just says that the information below is for non-IE users to read. The next line says that you can use online banking with the OSes and browsers listed. (I'm paraphrasing.) Below the OS images, it literally says: Korea Exchange Bank Supported Operating Systems Windows, MacIntosh, Linux. Similar on the right side there. This is not new. So, no. Buddy is just full of shit & doesn't know what he's talking about. Both the poster above & the shill at ZDnet. Korea is a fucking amazing country, with a wildly techno-savvy population that just adores new gadgets and technologies. Some of the coolest shit out there comes from Korea. If you want to find out what will be popular next year, go to Korea. You'll see it on the shelves. Want to see the most beautiful women on the planet? Gangnam. Style. Wink Tongue Yeah - it's true. Cheesy
