Last Tuesday President Obama got off the helicopter

in front of The White House – carrying a baby piglet

under each arm.

The squared-away Marine guard snapped to attention,

saluted and said: "Nice pigs, sir."

The President snapped back indignantly: "These are not pigs. These are

authentic Arkansas Razorback Hogs. I got one for my

wife, Michelle, and I got one for Nancy Pelosi."

The squared-away Marine again snapped to attention,

saluted and said, "Excellent trade, sir."

Very nice.  Sadly some people won't get it even after reading it 3 or 4 times.

So where is the making fun of the president?

You know, that sound just like the way liberals used to trash Laura Bush and Condi Rice, calling them (har har!) pigs....   Oh, wait....it's not.

Ah, so the humor was about the marine, not the president, or the first lady, or Rep. Pelosi.  Thanks for clearing that up.. . Sadly, but not unexpectedly way over my head...  Angry

it's the amusement of the word play.

Here, maybe this will help.

Army Major walks into a bathroom off base and there's a sailor taking a leak.

Sailor finishes and prepares to leave, without washing his hands.

Major raps out, "Sailor! In the army, they teach us to wash our hands after we use the latrine."

To which the sailor replies,

"Sir, yes sir! In the navy, sir, they teach us not to piss on our hands, SIR!"

Get it, lol, lol, the unexpected response?

No?

How about this one.

The Earl of Sandwich to John Wilkes: "You, sir, shall die either by hanging or of some loathesome disease!" To which Wilkes responded, "that depends, milord, on whether I embrace your principles, or your mistress."

bah ha ha

get it now?

No?

I give up. You're just a lost cause. Here's a nickel, go buy a sense of humor.

I have a wonderful sense of humor, and this was no simple unexpected response.  (boy, is that marine ever dumb, ha. ha.)

Was it about a marine's stupidity  No...that's a false claim as well.

What it was, was a lame attempt to equate Michelle Obama and Nancy Pelosi to pigs.  Something less than pigs; the pigs were a step up.

The 'joke' is offensive as hell.

That said, one wonders how appreciative of the wordplay the rightwing would be had it been George W trading the pigs for his two daughters. The Smirking Chimp and the Smirkettes...

The 'joke' is offensive as hell.
That's okay.

The reason is that the joke plays on the apparent stupidity of the Marine focusing on the far stupider behavior of the Commander in Chief.

And it's not directed at kids, it's directed at grown adults - Michelle and Pelosi, who are equally worthy of being joked about.

The only innocents in the joke, for whom the comparisons are truly offensive, are the ....

...piglets...

You're damn right it's offensive.  Swine should never be equated with Nancy Pelosi... it's degrading to the pig.

Pelosi is not a pig.... she's a leech!  The she-devil in engorging on tax payer provided subsidies that go to her shell companies:

And has probably been offered in one form or another for 44 administrations.

How about the Republicans taunting Grover Cleveland about his illegitimate child,

"Ma ma, where's my pa!"

and which the Democrats countered,

"Gone to the White House, ha ha ha!"

Now how mean is that? Essentially, the Dems are telling the poor little illegitimate kid to fuck off.

Methinks there's just a little bit of broken jaw from the knee jerk reaction on your part. If I knew any jokes about broken jaws as a consequence of knee jerks, I'd tell it here, but...

Not knee jerking at all.  It's offensive and misogynist and goes along with the whole decade-long (for Pelosi, longer) sexist attacks on MO and Pelosi.  Their bodies, their hair, their hips, P's alleged facelift,  their "pushiness", their bossiness - don't know their place as proper women.

I hammer on it because I'm determined to get these aholes to admit to what they're finding "hilarious".  Noted:  they won't; they (now you) just object to my objection.

Can't wait to see re-runs of Hillary's thick ankle jokes and close-ups of her wrinkles.

okay, look, to be honest, there is truth to the point that we on the left have done it to women on the right as well.Coulter, Bachmann, Palin, etc.

And it's not only the women. Look how Mike Huckabee, look how we ALL laughed at him and his ridiculous porky pig family, all dressed in clashing prison stripes, it was one of the funniest photos I've ever seen, the more so because it was real. And he was ripped mercilessly on this forum and amongst other Democrats.

For gods sake, jokes about presidents wives have been forever, as have jokes about the presidents own looks.

I get that you're our own Carrie Nation of women rights and respect. But somethings, honestly, are like Cnut and the tide: all the commands in the world isn't going to get it to stop, because like the tides, human nature is just human nature and we're always going to take pleasure in making fun of others looks, shapes, body sizes, etc. etc. What, after all, are caricatures themselves but making fun of characteristics that politicians have?
And how much different are Hillary's thick ankles and wrinkles than Taft's huge belly or Nixon's five clock shadow or ski slope nose? Herblock probably did more on his own than ANY Nixon hater to destroy the man, and did so virtually solely through pictures.

This joke does not call them pigs.  The punch line is that the Marine assumed Obama traded them for the hogs.  It is political humor, not sexist humor...the same joke could be told using ANY combination of folks.
Here is the same joke using different people:

Clinton:  http://politicalhumor.about.com/library/jokes/bljokeclintonpigs.htm

And Bush: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=105x2529238

And another Bush:  http://www.ebaumsworld.com/jokes/read/784437/

What is funnier is that you imagine yourself a champion of women when you have a looooooooooong history of seriously trashing conservative women.  Clean up your own act, and then something actually significant to whine about because with friends like you, women do not need enemies.
